Okay new to the forum here...proud new 1985 250 ES BIG RED owner!

I have searched through the entire repair manual and nowhere does it show the carb drain screw on the bowl, it only is mentioned in the text. My carb is leaking all the fuel out the bottom spout at the center botom of the bowl and I assume that this flow is contolled by that drain screw but I have tightened it and it still leaks, the pin at the end of the screw appears intact, does anyone know if an o-ring belongs on that pin or have any suggestions?? Can I just plug that bottom spout with a rubber plug???

your float must be sticking and causing it to overflow
try cleaning the carb

Yes there is suppose to be a small o-ring just under the head of that drain screw. In my experience, when one of those rings is used too much it will wear quite quickly and fail to seal right, or they can just get old too. Buy a rebuild kit, you'll be happy you did.

Sorry I guess I didn't read your problem right. Well If your float is sticking a rebuild kit can still help you you out. Your carb is leaking for a reason, don't plug that hole.
