You might check out Vintage Elsinores. Yes, they make Honda expansion chambers, but I installed one on my brother's old 1979 CR250 that I put together for him. The reason I mention this is that they custom-build expansion chambers for a number of different bikes, using modern technology. The change in his CR250 was phenomenal, it was a complete light-switch with the old pipe (absolutely no power before the mid-range hit, the hit was always accompanied by the bars lifting about a foot, unridable on trails), the bike completely mellowed out afterward, had power down low for a change and still kept all of the top-end hit.

I can't find the website in my bookmarks, or I would post it...

No. If I recall, they are in California. After talking to them initially, custom jobs require sending an existing pipe down there, or shipping them the bike itself.

1 year ago ,I tried to get some Z guys interested in a chrome Ct exhuast system built for top end performance. At the time, They(CT) told me that we would have to get 20 of them and they would be around 389 bucks for a complete inframe system.I am having a local guy make a in-frame sectional for my bigbore this winter.Anxious to see how it turns out.

We really need to do something and make it happen cuz i really think that the dg pipe doesnt make much hp.what do you guys think?? We need something like cpi or something that make more hp for the 310 kits. Cant wait for Cory to send mine out!!!

Hey Mr. Moshman ... pass that Sectional info on and have him Save all info on the TRI-Z pipe .

We need all we can get for the Tri-Z pipes

Well his tech info will prolly be withheld,as IF he does this for me it will be a huge favor from him,and he is not out to mass produce things.
There are Drag pipes still made by FTZ .As far as the DG I have no comparison to base it on unless I try Stock and Cobra which I have both of.But I can tell that the Dg does restrict the bigbore kit,But it is still amazingly fast. The cobra pipe would probably open up the top-end hit some though.I amy try it if I get bored. As for now,I am going to run a FTZ outframe pipe and see what it does.

I would be interested in a group buy of something performance. I would love to try something besides the DG.

I believe raffa will be looking to do something with Rich Daly at dynoport this winter. Handbuilt pipes and silencers for the z. He will fill us in and even opted to supply one of his many Z's for pipe fitment

Well i had my pipe built specificly for the big bore 310.....

Seems to work really well and the top end is insane.

I almost put a 490 motor in my Z untill i picked up my 310 kit and added the shearer custom pipe with a little work....besides if i was gonna take the time to put in an old 490 i might as well go all the way and put in a quadzilla engine.... I am sure that a 490 wouldnt even be close to that... infact im not sure how a 490 would hold up to a healthy running sprock big bore.

Lets try this again shall we.I should have time slips after this weekend, and the stator is fixed.:naughty:

What gearing are you guys running with the 310 kit? Anyone knows where i can get a custom pipe??

well motomax i am running a 14-40 gearing right now........ and i plan on jumping to a 15 up front now that the port work is done. My pipe was made by matt shearer in CA.

as far as numbers go... last race my Z was running about 7.9- 8.1 range. thats a 500ft track. just to give you an idea........... the Z can bring in a 7.9 and the fastest thing there is running a 7.7 or a high 7.6. There are only a few bikes that are running that. such as big bore stroker raptor, 468ex, 89 zilla 500 and a good healthy banshee now and then. Now that the porting is done and i change my gearing im hoping to pick up a few tenths.

There is a 300 foot track opening up about 20minutes from here on sunday. Not sure if i will make the race or not, however i will have no 300 foot times because they do not have the tree system. but i can asure you they would be low. The my tri z gets just about everything out of the gate.

oh the laughter hurts my sides..... a quadzilla engine... hahaha theres one way to make them run good... spend BIG BIG BIG $$$ with a guy in cali.. the only guy that can make a zilla even remotley fast... you'd be way better with a KX500 engine...
