Well, I just swapped my son's warrior for a 1986 TriZ 250. Why?

First reason? He was going to kill the Warrior, if he rode it like a two stroke much longer.

Second reason? The warrior is a freaking tank. Yes, it doesn't flip over too easily, however, it doesn't exactly turn on a dime, either.

Third reason? After leaving the warrior behind in only second gear....I honestly don't know why I bought the warrior in the first place. I even thought the warrior was too slow.

Fourth reason? He wanted the two-stroke bike, wanted a Yamaha, but I really didn't feel like forking over $3500+ for the overpriced Banshees in this region of the country. He started out on trikes, so he wasn't a stranger to keeping one upright, but the quad definitely makes you lazy. I however, got tired of every quad beating the hell out of my hands and ams every time that I rode on the trails around here, whereas I can almost let got of the bars while riding a trike, and I don't have to worry too much about having the bars ripped out of my hands if I hit a root or something.

Your thoughts?

Pics available later.

hey, sounds like a good move to me. geez, my blaster will walk on warriors all damn day long. i even puff up the chest and take on them 400ex's at the local pit with it. some i beat, some i dont. warriors never caught my eye, the looks of them are ugly, they are heavy, and way to slow for my taste.

I think its a good move, kinda the same thing I did one year ago for my Z. Thing is you got out early, I put one last ride through my Warrior, and threw a rod threw the case!

Whats the condition of the Z?

Lets see some pics!!

The only thing I can think of is parts availability. You'll find that parts for the 86 tri z are gonna be alot harder (and more $$) to find than warrior parts.

Good move, I wouldn't think twice about that trade.

I suspect my son will have about 237,878 pictures of this bike on his myspace page by late this evening...he even slept in the garage with it.
Even if it blows up on the first ride, I think he is a lot happier now....lol.
I will get pics up in the next day or two.
I honestly hate the little bum, I have been waiting for 23 years to get my first running Tri-Z, and HE gets one before I do....lol.....maybe someday....

Dammit!

I'm joking guys.....lol. He is 16, about 5-10 or so, perfect size.
Here is the preliminary pic of the bike, we haven't had a chance to clean our catch yet....from what I was told, the motor had been apart for new crank bearings and connecting rod, new piston and rings, tires front and rear have been replaced, it has a really freaking noisy RPS silencer on it (it echoes all the way down the street), bars have been replaced, some idiot repainted the fenders (paint is cracking and coming off, we are going to put black plastic on it later, I can't stand the white on a Tri-Z, makes it look like a Chinese Honda), stock airbox is gone, replaced with a simple K&N carb-mount filter....but otherwise, pretty much stock, everything works, runs great.
