i have a 1984 200X cylinder bored to 65.25 (.25mm over). since wiseco does not make a 10.25:1 piston in a .25mm over size, i was looking to get a XR200 or XR200R piston, which is a 10:1 piston.
so i would like to know
1. if one piston (XR200 or XR200R) is better then the other (which one is higher compression, better design, stronger, etc. or if their the same)?
2. does a honda XR200 or XR200R piston comes in a 65.25 size (i would prefer to get a honda piston)?
3. will these pistons work with a 84 200X?
4. where can i get them (again preferably from honda)?
and any other things you can think of or think i should know, thoughts or comments? Thanks.

xr200 was the dual shock model with a metal tank up to 1984, xr200R came out in 81 with a monoshock, any piston from 81-83 200R will work. it is also the same as 86-2002. 84-85 xr200r had a RFVC motor...personal like them but they ran hot, you had to run the piss outta them.
pistons are all over ebay, new kits.
200x uses the same piston, just cross reff the numbers, all the 185's and 200's use all the same piston as the xr200R.
hope this helps. ive owened 5 XR200r's..i know a thing or 2 about them.

so any piston from a 81-83 and 86-2002 XR200R will work. do they make a 65.25 (.25mm over on 200X) piston? if not what size pistons do they make? and its 10:1 right? thanks.
also, if a XR200R piston wont work, does anyone know where i can get a performance piston in a 65.25 (.25mm over size)? something around 10:1 or 10.5:1, i dont want to run race gas. thanks.

you can use a xr200 top end, prowell (sp) makes big bore kits for them.
if you dont know what size pistons you can get order yourself a free denniskirk off road catolog. wesico and others list the sizes of over bores.

i believe pro x makes a piston. im looking at a book and it shows they make the fallowing for your machine.
std, .25mm, .50mm, .75mm, 1.00mm, 1.25mm, 1.50mm over size. but im not too sure on the compression they put out. they are about 80.00 for the piston, rings, clips, and wrist pin. i wish i could find some info on the compression.

i checked denniskirk for both the 81-83 and 86-02 XR200R. denniskirk does not have any pistons for the 81-83 and the 86-02 only come in 65.5mm and up. i need a 65.25. guess ill have to wait till the next bore :(. thanks for your help.

i was thinking the same thing. i looked threw my book/catalog and hes rite wisco doesnt offer a 65.25 piston for the bike or trike.

XR200's are 65.5 standard bore and are the same compression as the 200X.
