If you had a Calfab swingarm what would you do?? Clean it and install it.... Polish it to a mirror shine... Or polish it but leave the welds in thier natural state.. Thanks to all who participate!!!

Polish it, have the original stickers remade and installed and definately keep all those buttah smooth welds looking like the day they were made.

Nah, the powervalved T3 with a lil porting and more compression is plenty trick. The Cal-Fab would bring a good dollar now but later in life it'll bring more.
Keep it and run it if you have it. I don't like having parts sit on the shelf.

I'd even skip the polishing job. Clean it, hit it with some mothers and install.
So Tekawte, when you going to post up some pics of your 86 and it's new Cal-Fab?

I'm in the process of cleaning up the garage now so i can hit it hard over the winter.. Hopefully be done by trikefest 08'.. I haven't been to one yet but t3-lopes and tecat-z tell me it's a blast!! And i don't have the CAL-FAB yet, I just paid for it today.....:beer

I am one for selling it as well, especially at the price it pulled. But then I say that as I am holding on to a westcoast for a 200x I dont even own.:wondering

Selling is not an option for me. I didn't buy it to try to make a killing on it by selling it. Maybe in the future i will but i'm keepin it and puttin it to use..

Am just about to polish my 85 250r calfab +2 swinger to a mirror shine, keeping all the welds as original as possible then applying some new calfab decals, to finish it off.

Ok, after about 4 days i got some votes.. Not as many as i wanted, but enough to get a better idea of what may look the best. So far it looks like some polishing to a full polish is the way to go. Thanks to all who voted and to all who commented. More votes are welcome at any time. Thanks ALL!!

As requested Tekawte1,
Here's some pics of my +2 CALFAB swinger for the 85 250r, i had a change of plan from my initial thoughts, and decided to try and put it back to the original finish rather than the polished look, so i had the swinger GLASS bead blasted then laquired.
Hope this is of some benefit to you.

It has a nice dull look to it, I like it!!
I'm honestly not sure I'm a fan of polishing. When we get done with a ride, sometimes I'm so beat that I don't want to even wash the 350X. I don't think I could keep up maintaining a polished look so I haven't polished too much.
I like PC myself.
Your swinger looks great, to each his own!!

Thats exactly why i went with the bead/lacq look DIRT,, i spoke to the polishing guy and after throwing some ideas around we decided this was the best option, i cant be bothered keeping on top of the polished aluminium,, i have it allready on another bike,, so i try to p/c, anodise, laquire basically seal aluiminum as much as possible from the elements
If you running a dunner it's cool, but for a bike your going to be using on the dirt, the polished look does require more attention.
Thanks for the compliments on the swinger - they are quite rare for the 85, i was lucky to pick it up on ebay...:w00t:

So I went with the Polished, clear coated look. Need some Cal-Fab stickers though. I like to keep a really rare piece original if possible.

Personally I would have polished it. Thats the beauty of a Cal Fab, that its made out of aluminum. Let everybody know that, instead of thinking its a steel swingarm with some silver paint. Just my opinion.
