84 250 R hubs do NOT fit 200X rear wheels, what does?

I was told on here by Jason I think (could be wrong) that R hubs will fit 200X wheels except for grinding a small bump at each spoke of R hub so the hub fits flush, which is correct BUT the studs on R are smaller diameter so they do not fit proper and have back and fourth play so I need larger diameter studs.

I guess maybe the older 200X's had smaller studs like my R and I have 86/87 wheels then ?

Will a hub from 200X or a 300 or 400EX that has same wheels also I think, fit spline wise on a 84 R axle ?

blaster/tri-z hubs/banshee/200x/250ex/300ex/400ex all fit 250ex-400ex will give you some extra width, that is what I have on my 300

I don't want any extra width on the account of where I park it in the garage, if it is any wider, it will interfear with parking car. So what would I be after then, 86/87 200X hubs ?

yes, they do fit, the 81-82 250rs used a smaller diameter stud. I have 84 ones on mine, they fit the wheels.

I have a 86 200x, they fit my wheels from all honda'a w/ 4/110. Basically 83/84 250r, 83-87 200x, 400ex, 450r, I think 300ex all share the same bolt pattern and spline on the axle. 81-82 250r's have a smaller diameter stud, however the hubs will fit on most honda 4/110 models. 350x hubs won't fit, those will fit on 85-89 250r's. If I were you, I'd get 400ex hubs, they can be gotten very cheap or take off 450r hubs. I also have liquid cooled 250r's, one of them has 350x hubs on it.

Find yourself some "acorn" style lug nuts. That will take the gap and center your rims with no play.

Yes, sure looks like you just need the tapered style lug nuts like a 250R has and not the flange nut of other years and styles. Is it a 10MM diameter stud??

10mm 1.25 pitch, I use the tapered nuts, but spin them around so the flat side holds the rim on, this way in-case I need another rim, I can use any honda rim, tapered or non-tapered.

Both the hubs you linked will add about 1" width per side. I have 83-85 200x hubs on my 300R with the tapered lugs and they hold up fine. The early 200x hubs wont add any width but as you stated, you need to grind off the little nub to make them work.

Maybe I'm a bit confused... Huffa, are your studs 10mm?? If they are then they are supposed to run the tapered nuts when running any type of rim with the pressed in insert. Which, it's hole is quite a bit larger than the 10mm stock stud. If your studs are 8mm then they just aren't right for your setup.

Aftermarket and other rims have a hole just a hair bigger than the stud and use a washer and a flanged nut.

The tapered nuts are used on any of the performance ATC's as they hold better than a flat washer and flanged nut. There is no chance of any play developing in a tapered OEM style setup.

NO, they are 8MM in diameter DC and my stock R rims have no inserts, the rim im pic is a 86 200 X wheel I believe.

Wheeliepop, I thought that exact thing but the hub and studs are splined so they lock in place, so the drilling option is out. It probably would work but I want them how they are from factory.

My hubs that you see in 1st post are stock 84's, I still have the stock gold wheels too so I think your wrong ? They are both on in this pic......

All you need to run the rims with inserts is a set of tapered lug nuts. The nuts from a 350x, 85-86 250R, 86-87 200x, 400ex,300ex etc should work fine. I can send you a full set if you need it.

If you had the ten mm studs you could get a nice set of ITP tapered lug nuts. They are avail. in black and chrome.

Are you SURE the stud diameter size IS the same ?

Well here is how it looked when I bought it from original Honda mechanic owner and how it now looks.

Note the rear mud flap on one side yet, taking them off, removing the waaay too many stickers on it doing all kinds of odds and ends to make it look better.

It's a 300 R, so I'm making my own stickers up.
