:wondering I finally received my grab bar from PRM ATV for my 86 200X. I attempted to install it on the trike and it did not seem to want to fit at all. Unfortunately, the factory grab bar is broken off so I have nothing to reference. Does anyone have any experience installing this grab bar on a 86 200X, or have any advice that might help me out?
First off, the bike has the factory tail light and tool box and I really don't want to have to eliminate either of these items. Each bolt has a factory bushing over it and the tail light mounts have "sleeves" that stick out towards the grab bar. I really didn't see any way of mounting the bar up without some modification.
Is this just a simple bolt on grab bar or is there more to it than that? Any info would greatly be appreciated. Thanks!

my prm grab bar for my t3 bolted right up, no tall light mounts though, but that didnt matter to me anyways seeing is how im not running lights. whats not working? the bolt holes not lining up? you sure they sent you one for the 86 not the 83-85 model?

Well I called up PRM and they were nice but really couldn't offer much help. They said it's been too long since they played with 3 wheelers! But yeah, the holes in the bar line up with the frame, but it would require leaving off the taillight and the tool box, and using a whole new bolt setup since the factory ones are longer to pass through the bushings.

Yep, your own your own. I have neither the factory tailight or toolbox so mine bolted on. I have access to a mchine shop so new bushings and longer ss bolts are no problem. DG pulled the same crap. IDK why the sell things without stating "your toolbax and tailight must be modified" but they don't.
The PRM is the best bang for the buck so deal with it, get creative and you'll figure it out.
Post pics if you need more help...........

I have had great luck with PRM. Almost always fit never a problem. I wanted to use 250sx tailight mounts on my tri-z's grab bar and they threw em in the box free for me to weld where i wanted on the bar! Good guys.

I had the same problem and got the same answer from prm. I bought a grab bar for my 1985 250sx and it did not fit at all, had to stretch it then clamp it to the bike. I used longer bolts and was able to mount the tool box. As for the tail light mount I sent to a weld shop to fab up mounts it looks stock but it cost more then what I paid for the grab bar.
Good luck Drew

I have PRM bars for my tri-z's and t3. Neither have tailight or tool box provisions. But it can be made to work. But again i really dont mind. They have a great quality product and continue to make bars for almost all of out trikes. They are the only company that i know of that still does that. And for that, im proud to support them and buy their product. Even if at times it does require a bit of fab work. And their prices are truly down to earth.
