what year cr 500 engine for 250r swap?

do you use a 86-88 or 89-00? any one know? or does it not make a differance?

Specifically for a swap into an atc frame, I don't think it matters. The mounting points on all CR500 engines are the same except for the fact that the 90s bikes use a different size swing arm bolt, therefore the shims in the engine cases are different diameters, same position, just different size.
