I found a tank sealer made to stick to plastic, fiberglass, or metal. Using the redkote is kind of taking a chance, but this is actually for plastic. I have used it and it works nice. It is a 2 part epoxy sealer. Here is the site:

It sounds expensive, but I believe you could do 3 atv tanks with the pint kit. Also, it doesn't air dry, it hardens chemically.

It works great, just make sure the tank is CLEAN. Rinse the tank several times with lacquer thinner as they recommend.

They recommend putting some screws inside and shaking the tank to break the rust loose. They say it will even fill small holes. I was not really concerned about using on a metal tank, though. I bought it for my plastic tank.

i was wondering if it works on a rusty tank since the one on my yellow 70 us90 is real rusty inside.

If you read about it on the site they say the sealer actually prefers rust due to its rough texture. The screws are just to roughen it up alittle more and break the big stuff loose.
