its bin awile and its tricky to explaine but i remeber haveing to put the kicker on the shaft and after the other end of the shaft starts to go into the case you rotate the shaft with the kicker but i cant remeber witch way.
as you rotate you should push in and it will go into place.
to take the shaft out its the same thing but backwards

If it's like most of them this is what I do.
Make sure all the punch marks are lined up to their respective gear and or shaft.
Make sure that if it has a thrust washer in the back (most of them do) that you put grease on it so it doesn't fall out during assembly.
Barely install the shaft in an area where the spring with the hook is allowed to install. Now you have to tip the shaft down and away and at the same time keep slight pressure against the shaft. Then it has to rotate about 90 degrees in order for the metal piece on the kicker ratchet can get behind the piece that is meant to hold it. You have to rotate just past that metal retainer, now you can fully push in the shaft and it is installed properly.
Let us know how you make out...

i will give it a try on monday have to work all weekend. it just doesn't seem right when i try to line up the punch marks at the top. seems like it may have the wrong spring on it or something.
thanks

You can't install it with then at the top.... The spring has no place to get in there if the marks are at 12 o clock. You have to rotate it while installing it and when it's installed they will be up top. It is impossible to just slide it in where it belongs. Just use the guide I gave you above.
