Whats the difference between an 85 and 86 Tecate shifter lever?? I have an 86 but i found a 85 lever and not sure it will work... Thanks!!

the '85 lever is longer... because the pegs are farther forward than the '86... try a lever from a KX...

about 2 inches... it may work if you have big feet... Or it could be shortened easily if you have access to a welder...

The shifter from a 1984 KX250 is way too short for a 84/85 Tecate

Well i don't have the 85 shifter in hand, thats why i was askin.. I found one but haven't bought it.. so i can't compare them..

Pics of what I believe is a 1984 (1985, 1986) KX250 shift lever next to one on a 1986 Tecate.
I pulled the KX250 motor to put in my Tecate and when I got the motor in I realized the shifter had to be swapped out.
