83 250 r cable ...and just the brass screw in adjuster on the cap...the cable is a little longer, witch works out for the better..IMO..

Tap the trottle houseing with the right tap ..and your in luck.. or just swap out the throttle for a threded one..

I have that same carb on two of mt Z's. One of the did not need ANY mods to work. It even uses the stick tri-Z cable.

I dunno,And maybe I am biased here,But why waist your time??The 85 250r carb was hardly desirable to use.I would suggest a 86 atc or 250r TRX carb.

But in any sense use the 85 honda carb and cable, with a Banshee thumb throttle.Direct bolt on.Or the Honda Thumb throttle will work as well.

well i had an extra 85 rebuild kit and carb laying around.

The mikuni i had...the slide was scratched down to the brass color and the intake was full of dirt.

So im just using what I have. Its the stock yammie thumb throttle...and ill grab an 83 r cable and hope it works. The stock throttle cable has a c clip and has a bent elbow. I just need one to thread into the top of the 250r carb and im set.

Its just to get it going...a 38mm pwk a/s is in its near future. Getting it running is my first priority though.

shawn (slbt500r) has an extra one laying around from chris's rebuild...all it needed was a retap on the drain plug and it was good to go. Chris gave it to me and shawn fixed it for me.

ill go through the mikuni and see if i can get it all cleaned up. Maybe ill still use that one. Not sure yet. Its somethign to fall back on if the 250r carb wont work.

Remember, i plan on a 38mm AS as soon as i get the cash, this is temporary.

i use the 1985 ATC Cable with the 1985-1989 ATC-TRX Thumb for my 39mm PWK ..
the 1986 Cable has the Cap on it while the 1985 screws into the Cap's os several models...
back in the day i had the 1986 ATC Carb on my first RAG and it was MUCH Better than the small Mic Carb that came on the bike
i never had much Luck with the Raptor,Banshee,TRI-Z Thumbs.. they didn't pull the 39mm Slide all the way up
and PLEEZZZZ don't use the Air Sryker !!! :D

i thought you said that the AS was the best bet for the z. I got it to work perfectly with my 85r cable. It lifts the slide up all the way. Ill figure out the 39/38 PWK issues when I get there, but ill definately remember this thread to find out what to do.

THanks for all of your help.

I also cleaned/rebuilt the Mikuni. The pilot jet fell out and I have no idea how this thing ran.
