This is a great post.... Let me get started.

http://i92.photobucket.com/albums/l34/Derrick_Adams/sigseven.jpg

First one is my 86 350X I built last winter

Second one is the first Tri-Z I built in `04

Third one is Last years 250R (Casper)

Last one is the current Tri-Z 450

I'll dig around and see if I can find some before and after pics of the 200X and the Air-cooled R

Footpegs extenders came from an internet company called Bling Racing.

Here's a link to the pegs: here (http://www.blingracing.com/yamaha_raptor_footpegs.htm)

This should be a good thread.

Here's the 1986 250sx. I only owned it a few months. It's been released back into the wild.

http://members.cox.net/dammit3ww/250sx-before-after.jpg

Here's my 1986 250R. It's in the permanent collection.

http://members.cox.net/dammit3ww/250r-before-after.jpg

Here's a "before and currently" of the Z since it isn't done enough for an official after picture yet. Trying to sell it actually. It took me HOURS to remove all the spray paint from the plastics. I wanted to kill whoever did it.

http://members.cox.net/dammit3ww/z-before-after.jpg

I will have some before and after shots of the 350x real soon. A 1984 70 not long after that and sooner or later the 200x I've been collecting parts for over the last two years.

Here's a few of mine. Restored all my bikes to various degrees.

White 86 triz was a basket case bought as a parts bike. Restored it in grey frame, black plastics and red highlights. That was my runner for the last few years. Now my boy Deepa is restoring it again after 3 years of riding it.

86 Tecate - Bought the bike off craigslist, Then I lucked out and bought out a persons restoration project and scored all the hard to find parts for it. So that bike sits nearly complete and restored until further notice.

85 ATC 250r - bought that off of Rangerover back in his hayday here. Just a nice bike with all new oem plastics and perfect seat when i bought it, so i powdered and bought alot of oem parts to make it near perfect.

85 Yellow Tri-z - Thats the bike that restarted it all for me 4 years ago. Was a nice cosmetic bike because it was an ice racer trike. Mechanics were all shot thought. Spent a grand on the motor and another grand in chassis and plastics and Powdered frame.

Right now i keep the big 3 in my basement just cause i want to. I always wanted a nice 250 3 wheeler collection and had the opportunity to do so. Ride my 350x and other 250r on the NH trails.

Thanks DX dude. It's one piece of vinyl. A local guy camos quads for the dealers and I don't really like any of the solutions to faded plastic so I gave it a try. It turned-out pretty good, and I got lots of compliments at TF.

That last picture is one fof the greatest yet most simple pic I've seen. Which one do you happen to ride the most?

brrcuda
08-24-2007, 01:27 PM
thanks bassman.

I used to ride the black triz everywhere for 3 years. Had many, many fixes along the way and finally sold it to another member -> Deepa. Just got itred of fixing it over and over. I just got a 350x in the winter and another 250r this summer. So i ride those, which are in very good shape also.

The 3 bikes in my last picture are basically retired until i can't afford to keep them. Kpt in the climate controlled basement. That's my mini showroom. I used to race when i was a kid and always wanted a 250 2 stroke. So i got all three. Those are old pics - floor is clean now.

When I first got on this site about a week ago and saw that modern day Tri-Z I honestly thought it was a photoshop creation. Dang dude, you're my hero. I've been wanting to build something like that since I was 18. I'm now 25 and still don't have the funds to do it. Really inspires me to sell my YZ450F and use the money to build a modern 250R.

neo19672000
08-27-2007, 07:04 AM
Yes it runs, now that I got a new plug in it. Seems like every 4 hours of runnin, it fouls the plug. Can only clean the carb so much, but with the jets so stripped (where the screwdriver head goes) out, cant give a needed rebuild. So until I can get a new carb I'll just keep swappin plugs. Thanks for the kudos on the 350X and yes I was thinkin that a custom wheel with a Blue Maui up front would definately look pretty SWEEEEET.

Juat mod that last set to fit the X. The getting the plastics are a close fit it would just be the seat that would be a little more tricky.

225dx dude, I like your Big Red. I am in the process of rebuilding mine right now. I saved your picture so I know what it's supposed to look like. I bought mine pretty much in pieces. Some guy had stripped it hoping to use the engine for a dune style cart, but the dumby didn't look to see the shaft drive.

If I can get mine as nice as yours, I'll be happy. Chris

Damn near, I had an engine before I had a frame. I put together most of the parts that I had been geting over about 2 years. If ever there was a piece by piece scenario this was it. Next time I will just buy a complete trike, that's for sure.

Hi guys

Heres a pic of my 110. Bought a couple of years back off ebay (should have known better!) looked like it had been kept in the sea all its life. Anyway - nearly finished with the resto. Next job is to strip down again and get the wheels & frame powder coated (not happy with the painted finish) - maybe do the wheels black.

Only problem is - there's nowhere to ride over here in the UK these days!

Well, my 85 was decent to start, but was hacked up, so I am slowly trying to bring back it's identity.....Changed the front fender, added Maier Super scoop shrouds and put a 'trimmed' set of rear fenders back on it. I had to put the Cobra exh on it too, all it had was a head pipe. Oh and it has Kenda Dominators on the rear also now.

Found this with no chain or sprokets. Missing the CDI box, pull starter, Valve cover valve adjust caps and propped up on one of the rear tires. Had been sitting in the dirt behind a small motorcycle shop for 2 years awaiting new sprockets. After picking it up for a hundred bucks I put on a cdi box and pull starter and it fired up. Thats why I ride Hondas. They just dont die.

Hi UlsterATCFan, :welcome:

The story with the 85 is this, it originally belonged to my brother, its been in the family for 16 years or so, my father bought it for a birthday present for my brother, he bought it in Oban. It ended up in pieces around the farm, so i decided to gather up the useable parts and restore it. I restored it in 2000, and again last year. :D :D

Well I bought a really really rough shape 250r from someone in middle TN (btpage=ebay name) and they totally screwed me on this trike. The only good part on it was the motor and that is yet to be totally seen. Every bearing was smoked, swinger bolt was thrashed and hammered on the likes I have never seen. Well doing like I do most of my trikes, I decided a ground up "restore". I am not wanting a garage queen but just a great trike for the woods, like I used to have, as I miss the 2 smoker power.

Well after over a year later, (mostly sitting at howards house), we finished it up. It still needing a few minor things but for the most part its done.

I dont have a pic of my '81 185s before I got started. http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee238/deeremana/GetAttachment4545.jpg
I have done alot of work to it since I got it.
http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee238/deeremana/SANY0032-1.jpg
I just recently took it all the way apart to paint the frame, black with copper flake. I still want to get new rear fenders to match the new front one and the correct decals and redo the tank again after smoothing out the dents. I got over 1000 in it, just about all new front to back, a bunch of the new parts are Honda. Still a work in progress, Ill get it like I want it one of these days.

Here is mine. A 86 250R I dont have the pices from when I brought it home with the luggage rack on it but its a original owner from Superior Wisconsin. We drove 600 miles to pick it up. Since Ive redone everything and put a 330 ESR pv on it, have the CR inverted forks and a diff swing arm yet to do along with a 10" front rim and new back rims. The pics with the heel guard was 1st with the original motor cuz my new one wasnt done. Alot of work and alot of money. But very fun

Before: Torn fork boots, locked up front suspension, ripped seat, dented tank, rust all over the racks, etc.
http://www.yzf600r.com/phpBB2/gallery/d/1384-2/3wheeler3.jpg

After: Rebuilt front suspension, new seat cover, redid the headlight, new tires, redone tank, sanded and repainted all the racks, forks, etc. along with a bunch of other cosmetic/mechanical over a summer.

Here is my 85 and 86 250R the 86 is all redone parked in the snow pics. Its got a BDT 330 motor and EVERYTHING is new on it pretty much. Paid $1500 each for these 2 years ago and got another $10,000 in the 86 in mods. The 85 has a sized motor and once I get the 330 all dialed in Ill strip it down and have it Powder coated.

Opps. I see I already posted my pics. But this post is both of my machines and how it looks now.
