I need some ideas if some of you would be willing to share........

I pulled the axle etc out of my 1984 airfooler to get the carrier and change the bearings.... the carrier is trashed.

I hate to spring for a 250$ billet one - but I can not find a good used one.

What years interchange for the 84 carrier? What are my options?

what is the difference between the 84-85-86-87 carrier anyway? I think some of the TRX will swap, yea?

thanks in advance... r4r

I don't think your gonna find much that swaps out.

Your axle fits in a 86 200X carrier but that doesn't mean the 200X carrier fits in your swinger.

so where do you get one?

just lurk around until one shows up and jump on it?

look at this snap ring.. it is just about to fall off the carrier... i wonder what happened to it. It was done before I owned it.

Something was rubbing against it...

Is the carrier made of steel? A piece of pipe a lathe and a welder could fix it if you can't find one.

I must admit, there must be something close that could be turned down or modded a bit to get it in there.

So many machines and so little time to try and fit them in our beloved toys....

hey dc - why dont you ride the 250sx?

Couple of reasons....

The 86 200X is super light, handles incredible and can jump anything.

The 86 350X is more or less the same but a bit heavier and just rips it up everywhere.

I'll ride the SX when I don't feel like shifting :naughty:

the sx looks fun - but I have never rode one. im not much for the auto clutch either. the wifes 200 has brakes on the left side bars and every time i shift I grab the brakes...

anyone have ideas where to get an 84 carrier? Also.... the rear disc mount was sliding around.. does the axle nuts just push it up against the carrier?

maybe a rock got between the disc mount and got ground like a coffee bean?
