well the hunt for a R motor isnt going too good, Mainly because Im cheap. But I have a 84 200X frame with just the front forks and front tire, would the rear swing arm from the R fit the X frame, I think id have a lot easier time finding a 185-200 motor for that frame, and a lot cheaper too. Anything else swap over? gas tank, plastic etc? thanks Jim

Jim, nothing is gonna swap from those 2 besides front ends and some brake parts and a few other odds and ends. It won't be any help to you....

He doesn't have a 200X motor either... But, I'd like to see that or a 125cc 2 stroke motor in an R chassis. Either one would be quick and handle great!!

How much work would be involved in putting the "200X" motor, into the "250R" frame, im trying to get an idea of what it takes, I have both, all info might help.

thanks

I would say the X motor into the R chassis would be more work than it's worth. The biggest thing I can thing of off the top of my head is the carb/intake sits high on the head on the X motor and would probably run into clearance issues with the backbone and or subframe on the R chassis.

I believe you mean that the cam sits high on the head. You would need to take measurements of both engines to tell the height differences. If it's just a little different, you may be able to tip the x engine a little forward before mounting it. No matter what, you'll have to make your own motor mounts.

I would say the X motor into the R chassis would be more work than it's worth.Probly right about that, i was hoping you'd say it was a clean swap!

so, any alternate suggestions ? or do any other motors transpose into the 1983 "R" frame ????

A cheap motor with potential+light weight, blaster. 200cc 2 stroke.

I've always wanted to make a YFS200X.

83 R has right side drive. You might start looking for motors with a similar setup.

X motor in 85-86 r frame requiers frame cutting and reworking.I have one in the works.

this thread is from 2007...it never happened. Just some guy talking. people talk but don't do it because it costs money. 200x motor in a R is pointless. Its already slow and weak. 350X motor is heavy as crap. 400ex motor would be better idea. YZ426F or larger 450 motor will make you feel what adrenaline is like. Anything else is basicly pointless. But unless you have money or these bikes and want to chop they up it wont happen.

here's what happens at my house when I part bikes out.....Many parts become something cool work done correctly that fun to ride.

I think a blaster motor would be pretty sweet into a 200x chassis for sure. They make quite a few hop up parts for those motors too.
