So I've tried the hi tmep RVT several times on the tip of the expansion chamber where it hooks to the head. It always seems not to hold up too long.
So.. I went and got some kinda Moose exhaust tape ($16) this stuff is supposed to expand when it heats up. blocking the leaks.
Anyone use this stuff? (also known as chamber seal) and had good results? :wondering

I've been looking at these things all over ebay.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/YAMAHA-TRI-Z-250-ALUMINUM-EXHAUST-CLAMP-TRI-Z250-YTZ250_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ43978QQihZ015QQi temZ250154356554QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW
Now I know the same can be achieved with some radiator hose and two hose clamps. but I got a thing for the BLING :naughty:
Anyone run one of these? Do they fit and perform well? worth the money? :wondering

Chris, you get this exhaust leak fingered out, and you'll be my hero for a day! Those Ebay clamps are between the chamber and silencer, aren't they?

Yup.. Those clamps in the link are for the silencer.
I had the 2 gaskets on the end of the chamber and all three times I've loaded it up with silicone and let dry for a day. it's leaked everytime. SO I figured I'd give this heat tape stuff a shot.

The original that came with my bike was toast!
Got me an OEM one like shown:

Fits snug over the DG system. No sealer, just clamps.
No more leaks for me :D

That links isn't right, and I am curious about this: OEM part that fits over the DG system and clamps down?

Lets try the link again:

It is a TIGHT squeze to get the oem gasket over the exhuast, but it WILL go on. Then I just used the two hose clamps that were on the old one.
The peice is $32.

The link still doesn't work, for me. Probably best to right click over the image and copy link location, then post the photo here.
I wonder if I can cut slots into the flange of the exhaust pipe, and then be able to put a heavy pipe clamp on there and tighten it all down good? I think I'll look at different clamp options to see if I can find something that big yet not too ugly!

Okay, in my opinion, this is going to be the way to go...........unless the experts show me something better. My idea is to cut into the exhaust flange twice, giving 4 slots, and then put some exhaust tape of some sort around the cylinder exhaust, slide the pipe on, and then clamp it down tight around the exhaust tape. Of course, for me it's different because I have a YZ cylinder and the Tri-Z exhaust, so I have extra room between the two. I'm not sure how tight your stuff is on a Z cylinder.

I can't see how this wouldn't work, and I'd do just about anything to get rid of that nasty exhaust spewing all over my stuff! My sock and shoe get plastered when I get out and ride for an hour right now:crazy:

You can just go through www.mrcycles.com and search for the Yamaha Tri-Z. Its a cheaper form of bikebandit. Their parts list isnt completely updated, so you have to crossreference a site like bikebandit to make sure you dont order discontinued parts. I have found that Mrcycles is cheaper on almost all their products.

I for one have no problems between the exhaust chamber and the silencer, and I have nothing clamping them together.
Anyone else have some magical secrets to help Chris and I get over this oil well sort of leak that comes out of the cylinder?
