Just purchased this machine and have been working on it. Replaced the chain and sprockets and the smaller (13vs 14 tooth) front sprocket wiped out the top chain slide. It was broken and really on its last leg already. If I keep my chain tight I don't think it'll rub much on the arm. It's easy to find them for 85 on up 250R's but not the 84's. Have people successfully run without one for yrs on the 84 model?

Been running mine since I restored it without chain slides, it's been fine. Just chewing up all the fresh paint.
