hey guys was just wonderin if anyone could tell me why my 85 ytm200 idles low when it gets warm, whenever i ride it when it gets hot it will idle low so i have to turn the idle up to get it to idle, then the next day when i go to start it up when its cold it will be idling high cause i had to turn it up, so i gotta turn it down to get it to idle good cold, then once it gets hot i gotta turn it back up, over and over again every day! :( its really gettin to be a pain in the arse lol so i would greatly appreciate help on this..
thx guys,

See this post:

Its a common problem. I personally think its electrical and has to do with the coils not firing as efficiently once warmed.

Yeah one of these days I'm going to get around to performing a resistance test on the coil. Probably the next time I drain my tank so I don't have to deal with all the gas. I will post my results then.

I just filled up too!

The truth will then come out.

In my experience it's normal for most engines to idle lower when warmed up. I always thought it was fuel and heat related, maybe something to do with friction, warm oil, expansion etc. With Harleys, especialy with Super Es', it's very noticable. They have a throttle lock on them so while warming it up lock the throttle on a bit or just keep it running by hand until she's warmed up and running on her own. Personally I'd rather set the idle when hot and deal with it not idleing for a few minutes while cold.
