whats up guys....i rebuilt my 350x about 2 months ago and it had been running great since then...but today i was riding it and it started sputtering and cutting off....now its taking like 30 kicks to start it and it will only run short periods of time and when it does run is sputters....any ideas on what it could be?

Oh come on now... If you rebuilt the motor you have lots of knowledge. If a motor isn't rebuilt right it rattles, ticks, knocks, doesn't feel smooth etc etc. But, this sounds like a silly fuel or ignition problem. I'd take a close look at the plug and carburetor.....

My X did the exact same thing. My problem was there was a little air in the fuel line and it would run for a few then sputter out. I took gas line off and shortened it and worked all the air out and I have not had a problem since.

check you cam gear and timing (make sure it didn't "jump").
its easy to bind the gear when installing it and not know it. then a week or two later the cam will break.

Did you get this figured out? I had a similar problem recently on a new-to-me 350x, turned out the intake manifold boot was severely cracked and once the trike warmed up it would sputter and die unless you kept it revved, which would lead to serious backfiring.
Took me a bit to find the problem.
New used intake boot fixed it.
