switch up my sprockets to a 16/40 and Im cutting it real close to the case on the front..I ran a 15/38 last sunday and ran a 4.846, Witch was the fastest it has gone so far ..as many 6 bolt banshee owners know with the 6 bolt carrier you can only go as small as a 38 even then the chain will roll on the sprock. hub..so I went up one on the front witch is like 3 1/2 on the back and went with a 40.. so actually it would be like a 15/36..Im also gonna have a 39 made for it.
Im hopeing to get into the 4.7 or faster this weekend.. time will tell
also added some rubber pices to the cylinder fins to get rid of some of the wannnnng...noise that air coolers make
jason85atc250r
08-07-2007, 08:47 PM
didn't the 87 banshee's have a 4 bolt hub if i remember correctly. maybe you can get smaller sprokets for that.
Bryan Raffa
08-07-2007, 08:49 PM
Ive broke 3 brand new zinger gas caps since TF 07..At $18 a pop!.... so I use a gas can cap and cut a alum. circle with some rubber washers and a fitting in the center.
also use the guts from the zinger cap. works great and dont leak..thats all I ask:lol:
the Next major change will be another +12 from ronnie just like his BUT LIGHTER... maybe he could post a picture for me of that  :beer
then this one will go up for sale!

This is all new to me, as there isnt any drags like that around here, how long is the drag footage-wise? Just to get a perspective, what are stock or close to stock 250r's and tri-z's running for times?

300ft drag. My Tri-z with Dg pipe and K$N is running a 6.3-6.4s. If my fat ass wasnt on it it might run a few tenths faster. The purple haze (the 10ft 250+hp atv) runs 3.4-3.6s

Also I found out that my carb was not opening all the way,, the slider was stickin down a good 1/4.. So I did some grinding in the stock throttle houseing and to the arm also the stops.. witch helped and is now opening all the way
also this will be the next installment.. a 10 petal carbon fiber reed cage..and will be ditchin the stock 8 petel reed cage with boysen's

played holy hell trying to get the banshee carrier to work but could not with the swinger...so I threw some new bearings in a carrier but the hub was made for a banshee carrier..so I ended up putting two bearings on the chain side of the carrier to alingn everything..but got it done real nice..still got to finnish the brake swap..not too crazy about the two pice link lock..but Im gonna run it..
the run down...
ronnies swinger-lighter and actually 1" longer than my old one
lonestar hub-lighter and can go to a 33 tooth/honda 4 bolt
35 tooth linklock
new bearings,,no seals-less drag
new HD non-Oring- chain less drag
Each thing I did will gain more speed!!

thanks dude ..just got done with it.. spent hours rebuilding a rear caliper..only to get it all bolted up and ready to blead and snap the bleeder off in the caliper.. so no big deal right,,just use the easy out,,right.. WRONG..snaped that off too in the caliper..now its fubar! so all apart that one comes to get all the new parts off it..sand blast another one and totaly rebuild another one... 1 hour job (if that) turned into 5 hours:rolleyes:

Does ronnie have an EDM at his place? You can burn that wore outta there and be back in business with that caliper.
Dirtcrasher
09-19-2007, 08:17 PM
I'm sure a mill with a carbide bit could cut it out.
I thought EDM machines require a wire that goes through the cut??
honda250sx
09-19-2007, 08:31 PM
You can burn it out too. Prior to running a wire through. They can even chase threads with EDM's

you can see the double bearing im running in the carrier through the hub to align the chain..back to a Tri z rear end..the carrier had to be ground down also around the bolt holes for the bolts to clear..splitting hairs now..

heres one year of severe abuse with a ceramic coated piston...I think for shure I would have smoked this piston with out..

BACK ONE PAGE for PIC's
swain tec can add up to .003 to your piston cureing piston slap..wore bore
My piston will be re coated for half the price.. and will be Tight again..not to shabby..only at the bottom of the skirt had the alum. of the piston come incontact with the cylinder..;)
ball hone, new rings, and a ceramic re-coat
honda250sx
01-23-2008, 01:24 PM
Raffa how much does swain charge for this process? Right now i have a cylinder at ronnies and he is boring and putting together a piston kit for it and porting. Do you first have to have the piston coated and then measure for bore? I have dealt with them before but only coating snowmobile exhausts.

no.. bore then coat, first time I think is .02 thats all.. but they can put on heavy for clapped out motors $45

Score. Thanks bro. Do you have a contact there that you deal with?
you can send it too me and I will personally take it up there with mine.. if you want..
I have woken the beast from its controlled enviroment. And has been torn apart for some new color ..Ever since I had it powder coated I wasnt happy with it ..first the oven caught fire with the frame in it .. and has black fire char under the clear.. and the clear coat has totally shatterd..everytime I would tighten a bolt the clear would crack and flake off..this time it will be media blasted again and professionally painted with automotive paint.. you can see the black char under the clear on the rear of the frame..
when I assemble it I will take a time laps photos as each peice is put on, and should make for a pretty cool slide show..the hardest thing will be keeping the camera in the same spot..Im thinkin tripod.. and rembering too take the picture after each part.

Brian I have been in the autobody repair business for over three decades. I would suggest that you have it painted with a single stage urethane automotive paint. I painted 1ufronts 300r with DuPont chroma one single stage urethane three years ago and it still looks pretty darn good. Occasionally it gets a stone chip or two and he just puts a little paint in a small container mixes in a little hardener and touches it up with a small touch-up brush. It is very durable paint. This is just my opinion.

Ack! Don't use the H-Tracks. Sell them to me and buy a set of Hoosiers. You can replace Hoosiers or American Racing tires, but not H-Tracks. Sell them to mee......

few pic's from sunday.. got a few small things cleaned up ,exhaust tip painted. My rear rotor was bent bad and it smoked the pads.. got both them swapped out and I can push it now with one finger..rolls super smooth..found out the threds for the hub nut are stripped..So I will need a new axle also a couple nice pan head screws for the rear master.. and a little bit of weld under the right peg to level it back out.
got the pipe out and polished up
also I dont think I like the UFO shrouds on there..too mutch black...

    dont you think I'm not going too!
the time crunch got me.. and my blaster axle is not here yet..got nervous so I put a tri z axle in..the blaster axle was bent and the threads were stripped for one hub..:(
It actually took alot longer to switch things over because of the lonestar hub I use..the chain would not align up.. so I ponderd awile... pulled the extra bearing in the carrier out and cut a old 200x swingarm tube up.I cut 3 rings out of the tube one at 1/2,3/8,1/4. It was impossible to measure in there for the exact mesurement..ended up with the 1/4 ring on the axle before I slid the sprocket hub on.. It's a bit wider..but it's gonna be at TF!
I can bet I'll have a blaster axle on my steps when I get home from TF:rolleyes:

After much deliberation,, I have pulled out the 490 drag bike and shortened it up a bit, for now it will be totally rebuilt from the crank up.Taken off Alky and the stock carb will be put back on. I will run a in-frame pipe..possibly a pro circut..up the right side. After blowing it up at TF08, it has been in the basement, witch is now being renovated..it has to move..eventually I will have the complete +12 rear end ready just too swap out..for now I wanna fun with the bike. Pump Gas here we come :(

A new direction sounds cool on the 490 Bryan. What piston make was that pictured? It looks cast, maybe a Wiseco should hold up better in that application.
