Hey I'm new here. I don't know if you can help me or not. I work for a non-profit kids camp that has a 1985 ATC 200s that they used to use as a maintenance vehicle. The trike is in beautiful shape, mostly because it hasn't been used in years. I have been here for 3 years and it hasn't run in that time. I want to try to get it running again, but am not sure where to start.

According to one of the maintenance guys, it would run for an hour or so, but then die and the plug would be completely fouled. They took it to the dealer, who did some carb adjustment and said it was fixed, but it didn't help at all. They got tired of replacing plugs, so parked it in the shed and forgot about it. I am guessing it is not a carb problem, but where do I start checking?

Thanks
Jason

Pull the plug, if its black then its running to rich and it needs to be adjusted. Getting way to much fuel, i had a simular problem with my 185S. Clean the carb out too, because its been sitting for so long I'm sure its gummed up. Go to autozone and get some Sea-foam also, dump the whole can in the tank after you get it running and just run it. That helps alot.

Clean the carb first and then try it again. If you are still fouling plugs the slide needle and seat are worn. A very common problem with the 200S. A quick fix is to lower the needle one notch (move the clip up one notch on the needle will lower it) and try that. The needle vibrates around and wears out the seat in the carb making the hole larger ten it should be and then riching the mixture. If this seems to help then replace the needle and seat. But first give the carb a good cleaning including the jets, make sure they are not clogged. Lets us know if this helps out.
