I popped the AB lid, fabbed up a 450R ex with the HRC tip and rejetted. The 86 350X is getting through the gears a bit faster and I'm thinking about changing the sprocket.

I'm not sure if there is room with the front sprocket case saver but has anyone added a tooth to the front sprocket?

Or what about the rear, do I have to add 4 teeth to obtain the same change as one front?

What are you guys running and with what mods?

I just feel that my top end speed could be a bit higher, not to mention that I have a buddy with a 400Z that claims "HE'LL SMOKE MY SH!T"

There should be enough room, and I was told its 2 back teeth for every front tooth. If the Z400 is completely stock, you will probably have a very slight upperhand.

stock for stock the z400 will easily beat your 350x.

Dont you add a tooth to the front sprocket to gear it up and take them away from the rear sprocket?

Yep, but I'm not stock anymore :naughty:

Yes your right I'd have to lose teeth off of the rear to gain top speed.

I don't think it's 1 front for 2 rear though? The front sprocket is roughly one third smaller than the rear so I'd assume 1 front for 3 rear, that sound about right?

Isn't ANYONE running a different gearing??

Go down two on the rear. I know speedbump posted a vid of him winning a 300ft race with the Z400.

im running 14 36 on my 350rx but my buddy runs 15 37 on his 250x/350x hybrid

a 15 will fit but there is no room once you get the chain on, in fact it might rub a little but it will work fine for years with a 15

Anyone know of a good gearing calculator, I wanna go to 20" tires on my 300ex but I can't decide what the best gearing is.

Go on everything2stroke.com and click on "other" then "speed" calculator.

Don't forget to change *Edited**Edited* primary ratio each time you change sprocket sizes. (big sprocket divided by small)

Im running 15 38 or 39. I still want to go a bit higher. For what you have just go up one in the front you will be just fine. As for the casesaver, put the chain around your sproket, set your casesaver in the grove of the chain and slide it onto the shaft. With slight mods you can run a 15 tooh no problem. Can probably run it decently on a stock engine just would bog in 6 a bit.

Is stock 13 40? I'll go and order a 14 front, hope the carrier will adjust enough for the chain.
