Who geats the best deals on aluminum rims??

I need some new aluminum rims for the SX's. I like Douglas but as long as there .190 thick I'm happy. Tire packges are the way to go but I only need 3 or 4 rims. Just wondering who's found the best deal?

Hmm...good question....which brings a question from me, when they sell you "tire&Rim combo" for 150 some odd dollars and up, is that 2 tires with 2 rims, or is it 1 tire and 1 rim?

At Rockymountainatv their packages include 2 tires and 2 rims with the tires pre-mounted and aired up. You can add metal valve stems and Slime Green tire sealant for a few additional $. Its really not a bad deal.

Yeah I got 2 Bandit XC tires on Douglas .190 to my door 230$, I thought that wasn't bad. But I just need alum rims, maybe another brand or place to buy them though. 60$ each is kinda steep for me right now.

kepp in mind with aluminum rims, manufacturing processes differ, and .190 is only a measurement of thickness, not strength. Your ITP, and most other .190 compare more closely to the Douglas .160 in strength.

For GOKU the shipping was about 35$, I've had these 3 years now and I beat the hell outta them - still look great and no plugs!!

Tim, In other words your saying Douglas has a superior manufacturing process and there .160 is as tough as a competitors .190???

I bought the .190 because I knew I'd be hitting rocks constantly.

Yes, I didnt get specific because I couldnt remember the specifics, but I think it was something to do with one type being cast, and one being machined, or something like that. Maybe somebody can help me out here! I was quite some time ago I was reading about it, and cant fnd the information now.

Hmm, the Douglas seemed roll formed to me?? Sure seems like it would be alot of cleaning up if they were a casting.

Douglas rolls that edge up and that makes for a strong edge, I have not seen an ITP rim.

Dirtcrasher, just put 22x11x10 Fast-Trekkers on .190 Douglas standard alum. 8) on my sx from rockymountainatv.com $179.99 to my door. Depending on size and wheel style you got, Rockymountain has 22x10x8 Bandit xc's on .190 Douglas standard alum. for $214.99(shipping included, figuring same $20.00 they charged me) Did your new right rim come with oversized? bell to fit over brake drum? Wasn't sure how that worked . So I bought the 10" rims so I could run them w/o my hub spacers.Those are my trail hill climbing tires, I bought a set of 8" gold steel rims (new) from PLJ here on the boards (3/$50.00) and mounted my Mud-Busters on them for MUDDIN'! :twisted: Think I got bases covered for HASPIN!!!

p.s.- The rims I got from PLJ will only work with the extenders. So don't forget about that drum.

He als250, I never even mentioned the drum on the SX. Fairly sure there only 8"rims. Bought these about 3-4yrs ago and like I said I have nailed some rocks but they held up great.
As far as the Bandits go, man what a nice tire still at like 80% tread!!! Hooks up everywhere, I will buy again. They are a bit more money but seem well worth it. Let us know how those hold up for you, thats a sweet price for fat rims and new tires!!

What have you encountered with the drum being a problem??

Stock SX rims (I think) are all interchangeable - front to rear etc. They are offset a couple of inches in stock form.

Dirtcrasher, so far I like the Trekkers! Have had them at BadLands once,liked the way they climbed! I was used to the narrow Mud-Busters, whereas in the loose sandy material at Attica, they wanted to dig in when climbing hills, trailprotrailprotrailprotrailprotrailpro sinks-frt. coming up! :shock: With the Trekkers they seem to keep me up on top better and just keep rippin' on up!
As for the drum, I mean not all 8" rims will fit over rear brake drum. I got a chrome set a guy gave to me, he said they were off of a 200x, and the right one will not go over drum.
