Howdy, long time lurker, this is a great resource for all the trike fans out there,:TrikesOwn ..now to my question.:wondering

I recently picked up a couple new to me trikes, I was mostly after a decent 350x, which I got, but the fellow also had an 86 200x for sale, and since I already had one, I figured why not get another? It was a little rougher than my current one, but looked rideable. So on the trailer it went.

I got it home and took it for a quick spin, good power (might even be a lil' stronger than mine), but I did notice when shifting thru the gears, that it had a knocking sound in second gear. What would that be? All other gears sound great, shifts thru them nicely, just the loud knocking in second.

Thanks in advance for any help.:beer

Does it go into all gears fine? Clutch cable adjusted?

My 110 is like that. I bet it's a bent shif fork, or the gear could be rounded. Does it drop out of gear under low power? My 110 will stay in second (even with clunking) under power... But if I'm just tooling around slow, it some times pops out... Even though we have completely different transmissions, it sounds like the same thing to me...

Yeah it seems to shift thru all the gears fine, I took it out on our dirt road this evening for a few minutes, the clutch cable feels like it's adjusted fine, and so far with limited ride time I could'nt get it to pop out of second. Honestly if it's going to require splitting the cases maybe I'll just skip straight to third on this one for awhile. :naughty: It has plenty of power down low to tool around in third instead of second. The sound in second is so bad I cringe everytime I hear it.

Thanks a ton for the reply's!

I'll make it real easy on ya.

Shifting issues in all the gears or weird shifting is luckily on the outside of the center cases.

Problems in one certain gear are a big problem and splitting the case will be the only remedy.

Drums get worn, forks really don't bend unless the thing is just jammed all to hell and most of the time it's the dugs or lugs that get rounded that cause a partial engagement problem.

Either way, inside the center case requires $$ and patience to fix right. You may want to keep it as a parts bike.
