i picked up a dt? 175 to use the motor in my tri moto...thing is its been sitting 20years and the piston is like rusted to the cyl.anyway to get it out ?

you could try soaking it in PB blaster and letting it sit for a while. then trying to remove it.

Soak it with penetrating oil, take the head off and give it the tap tap with a piece of wood and a baby sledge hammer, should work its way loose with a little persuasion.

PB blaster or equal oil, hit it with a block of wood and a hammer like captain and jeff said. and i heard if you heat rusted parts it helps :wondering.

but aluminum if you heat it it could warp the head or the piston pb blaster let it sit for 2 to 3 days n a block of wood n a hammer tap the piston loose if that dont work let the pb blaster sit for a few more days

true, so only use heat as a last option when you cant do nothing else right?

i ended up using an air chisel to remove it...the motor is trash..thx for the help

rusty and stuff...the crank and rod and every thign is rusty but suprizingly turns well and in good shape...im gonna just use the bottom end and make me a manual clutch trimoto lol + ill have a tach!
