quick question 85'R

my bike runs strong but will not idle, it needs a little throttle to start. the pilot looks clear, the intake manifold seems fine. could the petcock be a possibly cause?

Is the idle screw adjusted right? (sorry but with what little info you gave thats the most likely thing)

Runs strong so its getting fuel so you could probably rule out the petcock.

I have to give mine a little gas when starting also.
Have you turned the idle up? Is the choke stuck on?
I had a time on my bike when the bike ran fine, but it wouldn't idle because the carb wasn't getting enough gas. Sounds backwards right, has enough gas to run but not idle. Its true, it can happen.
Like biggreenmachine said, do you have any more information on it? Dirty spark plug?? Using correct weight oil??

tore it back down and reinstalled with new clips around both boots either side of the carb and 'whalla' all sorted. thanks for the replys.
