Well, putting the 200x together again for the 3rd, and hopefully last, time. Found this difference between the 85 and 84 kicker gears, the ones that are part of the tranny that is.

This makes the 85 gear with the 1 inch round piece that juts out of it not work in 83 cases which is what I'm using. As far as fitting in 84 cases I wouldn't know.

Just know that if you ever have to replace the kicker gears that are part of your tranny that you need to replace the one on the kicker shaft, the counter shaft, and the main shaft as a set for each individual year because they are different for every year 83, 84, 85. Number of teeth changed between 83 and 84 and then thickness from 84 to 85. Granted the thinner one without the 1 inch piece jutting out of it still works because the side that is ground down on an angle doesn't effect the transmission going in your cases, it's machined in a way that it doesn't change the spacing of any gears or anything.
