I rebuilt my forks once with no knowledge and they didn't even last a full day of riding....My suspision was that I put to much oil in it and then I jumped it which blew them real quick......I have a 1987 atc200x and was wondering how many onces of fork oil I should use in each fork......Plus I wouldnt mind some recomendations of fork seals...I last used some real cheap Part Unlimited seals and was wondering if thats why they blew because of cheapness.......I also wouldnt mind someone steering me in the right direction when it comes to fork boots because right now i have none. I know there easy to get, but is there any cooler ones or soemthing...lol....anyway thanks.....

I got my boots from BTPAGE or something on ebay and I am very happy with them. I also got cheaper seals from Parts Unlimited, but dont see why there would be any problems with them. I havent ridden on them yet, Im just finishing a restore. I dont have my manual handy, but each one of the forks use around seven and a half ounces. I would also recommend Dexron Automatic Transmission Fluid.

Thanks about the oil capacity but now I wodner why they blew because I think thats about how much I put in them....Was it because of dirt getting in the seal because of no boots?

Well they started leaking with in 2 hours of riding so I dont know what happened....Is there a chance they started leaking because of the bushing under the fork seals. I noticed it had alot of wear and the forks have quite a bit of play in them so could the fork tube be pounding up against the fork seals causing them to wear in a way that they would leak?

if the fork bushings are worn out, the seals will leak prematurly. just had that problem on a rm125. changed the bushings and its fine.

if the forks were used with no or low oil, the bushings will wear out, and need to be replaced
