Is there a voltage regulator on a yt125? I have excessive voltage so I was wondering if maybe its a faulty light coil or something.

Yes there is a lighting coil behind the flywheel. It should put out 5.8 volts AC at 3000 rpm and at least 8.3 volts AC at 8000 rpm's.

Ok, so lets say I was taking the flywheel off with a harmonic balance puller......put the bolts in a little too far and turned one through to the coil. It is slightly damaged like a couple of the windings are indented but not broken. Do you think that screwed it up? The lights did not work before this however.

Riding for hours at night in your friend's headlights is really not that fun.
