Got a complete 450R exhaust with the HRC tip and made a midpipe, finally got it on the 350X last week.

Chopped off the Honda mount and fab up a new one and I had to cut the 450R headpipe, the 350X silencer and then mig welded them together to make a midpipe using stock gaskets and clamps for a nice clean fit and look. I did have to heat up the final midpipe and tweak it just a few degrees to get it perfect. I didn't "have" to have the other mount but I wanted it.

I used 1/8 steel to make the new lower mounting bracket and welded a 8mm x 1.25 nut on it for the 450R exhaust. Also had to make a 1.250" aluminum spacer for it.

As for the jetting, I turned out the airscrew a bit, raised the needle one clip and tossed a 400EX?? main jet in there. I don't run the airbox and it runs and starts great! Added power everywhere and sounds/looks great....

Looks good. Sounds like a simple cheap solution to the lack of aftermarket exhausts for the old X. ( I know there are some..but they all SUCK! ) LOL

Safe to assume now that any 450R slip on will fit your X with the custom head/midpipe?

Cool!

Did that to a bddies 85x a year an 1/2 ago after someone else on here mentioned that it was a great upgrade to the old dg RCM alloy megaphone. Thats what he had, and what a difference. We even utilized the oem 450r headpipe heatshield. He rode it at TF the last two years, and even saw one other there with the 450 exhaust this past TF. Does require a bit of fab, but well worth it. The results are max power with a nice clean sound that wont irritate anyone. And stainless oem quality throughout. And yes, any aftermarket canister will bolt right up. How sweet is that!

It is running the stock 350X headpipe. I used about 4 inches of the 350X silencer pipe with the stock clamp and a few inches of the 450R headpipe with the other clamp onto the 450R silencer.

I remember seeing a post on this a few year's ago by a member ,and thought it would be a nice addition to the 350X's performance, never rode on a 350X with it though.Well, last week me and my brother went riding to test some bike's out.He recently got a 350X from a member on here, which had that 450 set-up.I tell ya I was totally impressed with the low end performance.I could lug it down to the status of a John Deers 2 cylinder trator, and hit the gas and it was there ,no flat ,just RAW power.Maybe that member ,my bro.got the machine from can chime in and tell ya ,the set-up he put on that 350X.But I gotta say ,for the cost ,you can't go wrong ,in my opinion..

Wow sandpuppi, I wish that member had taken a few more pics when I ---I mean he,, did that swap:rolleyes: .
I picked the muffler and headpipe up off Evil bay for less than 50$ and I just used the stock 350 headpipe, bolted in place and cut and fit the 450 headpipe to go from the muffler to the stock header. When they were lined up a 4.00 auto zone exhaust connector finished the deal.
