It's a special order to get them for the 85-86 250R. We need to order ten sets or Maier will not even do it. Maier will do pretty much anything in any color (assuming they have the mold) but it's 10 piece minimum which gets pretty expensive.

They have never made 250R shrouds (or any other trike parts) out of this stuff before so if anyone wants a set, now is the time to get in on it because you might not ever have another chance.

I'm interested in MAYBE doing that down the road a little bit. I want to see the shrouds first. Make sure they're just as durable as standard Maier plastic and see how it looks and everything.

I may not be able to do the front and rear fender at the same time but if we did an order for just the front fender like we're doing here, then a little later did the rear, I could probably swing it.

I think these shrouds will complement black fenders nicely either way.

Edit: by the way, I think Maier is willing to do more than just one custom color at a time as long as the total order is at least ten. So say we had five people that wanted carbon fiber and five that wanted another color like green or something, I think they'd be able to do that.

I wouldn't be interested in a front fender until I see the shrouds. I have never seen Maier's carbon fiber pieces in person before so I'm kinda using this oppurtunity to check them out for a reasonable price.

You might want to find out some prices on front and rear fenders. I'm curious to see what those would run if we end up liking these shrouds.

Guys the front fenders fit the Tri-Z, Tecate, 350X, 200X as well as the aircooled 83/4 R so don't miss what will likely be the only batch of carbon front fenders for them.

Yeah i thought the same as i was fitting to a Clarke tank too but i did a test fit to a stock tank and they are just as bad,the holes are out and the trim line is very crooked my thinking is that the plastic has been over heated and the part has shrunk after vaccing then when the robotic trimmer comes in the lines get all messed up.

Yes. Just the shrouds. The trim lines were crooked as hell and they overlapped the indentations on the top front of the tank where they should of set flush. The holes were waaay off to as Aussie stated. This is the reason I'm not purchasing the some of the carbon fiber look ones. The headlight shroud was good but the mounts for the straps are kinda cheesy. The rear and front fenders were mint.

Ive been using Maier plastics for 5 or 6 years now. 250rs. 2nd and 3rd generation, and 350x. The radiator scoops are never perfect

The fit isnt that bad. Yes most of the times the holes are off. But if you oblong them a little you can make a nice fit.

Hell, ive recieved 86r fairings with no holes drilled. There is nothing you can do about this. If you all call maier and complain I doubt they will do anything. We are a minority in what they are putting out. They could say screw us (the 3wheeled population) because its not us keeping them in business.

If your looking for a perfect fit, buy OEM.

It doesnt matter what color your dealing with. The fit is a little off. But as I stated before, its not a bad at all fit. And for the price you really cant complain. I will continue to buy there product, because for the price/look/and slight mods to make it fit, its still a great deal and looks very nice.

I understand it's aftermarket and all but for the money Louis and I paid and what these guys are paying for their shrouds it would help if they fit just a little better. If it was a little better I would probably have bought some of the carbon shrouds. Minority or not my money spends the same for these older bikes as the guys on the newer ones do. Plus I have a newer quad. Don't get me wrong, I'll still buy but only if necessary.

I will call Maier and express the concern for "poor fitment".
But that aside,Anything aftermarket is bound to require modification to some extent.
For example if you buy Some Year one Fenders for your 69 Camaro,They wont just bolt right up.
The fact of the matter remains that,Maier is willing to accomodate us in a custom Special order.I dont want to push them to the piont Where It is a Pain in the Butt for them to deal with us.
I have already researched New mold making from them,For other models,And they want 2000 bucks just to remake a mold.
So I will close in this.I will make the concern apparent in a non pushy manner.
Anyone with a Dremmel and some time should be able to make these fit with Precision.
These are a limited custom order.No way in heck Honda would even consider it for us.
Lastly I do not want to tick them off to the point Where they say,,,"This gang of guys aint worth the hassle.Lets Discontinue All of the Trike stuff."
And then where will we Be?

Heres my new white Maier shrouds,the fit issues look the same as Ric's blue ones.First up Im a big fan of Maier and ive had 250R shrouds from them before that fitted a lot better so i do think the current trimming method could use some refinement.
