The last time I ran it, I bought a carb kit because it would sputter and not top out. I put the carb kit in and now it smokes like a guy at the firing line and is still not topping out. I adjusted everything that I knew of on my carb to try and it is still doing the same thing. Does anyone know what could be wrong? I'm thinking the rings might need to be replaced.:wondering

Its blue smoke. It starts on the first pull and idles good.

Blue smoke = burning oil, I think. Might need new rings?

it may need new rings but it should still be able to rev out unless there is that much oil mixing in. How bad is the smoke? It would have to be a REAL heavy smoke

Its smoking good, but its not heavy enough to foul the plug.

Are you talking about the needle jet? I put the clip in the third groove on it. That is where the factory one was set.

I found out why it wouldn't rev up all the way. Thanks to Jason 32, I was reving it up and I took the air breather hose off and it wound up. So I need to clean the filter and the inside of the frame where it draws air from. Now I need to figure out why its smoking. I adjusted the needle jet and it did quit smoking for a bit, but it started back to smoking. I am going to run a compression check tomorrow to see if I have low compression. I also noticed that I was leaking a few drops of oil, so I need to get a gasket set soon. Thanks for all the replies.
