200x light issue

Howdy,
I was looking for some help. I have a 1983 honda 200x that I cant get the light to work. I pulled the switch and it is seem to be only getting 4-6 volts on the meter for the yellow wire. Bike runs great but hard to ride at night. Any suggestion. I would really like to nix the switch and go with a kill button and the lights run all the time when i start it. I know that I would lose High/low but im not worried about that. If any of you could help that would be great!!!

figure out the hot wires- high ,and low - and hook them up direct- with out the h/L switch--
then remove the kill wires-,and hook them to a aftermarket kill button-
the stater is always working anyway- with or with out the lights on-
