How rare is it to find an 87 tecate 3 in decent running shape, and how much are they worth? Anyone have any ideas or opinions on this?

finding a decent 87 model is no more rare than finding a decent 86 model. But they are both very desirable, those are the years everyone wants. As far as whats it's worth that's really hard to say without pics. But if you think it's a good price, go for it, you won't be dissapointed.:TrikesOwn

87s are rare, that was a tough year to sell trikes with the big three halting production of these trikes.

Most used tecates have blown rear shocks, need new plastics and need some discontinued parts which are impossible to find. Oh and usually the gas tanks are faded/browned out. All of that can be fixed though except the discontinued parts thing. But if you want to be noticed on the trails or track - get a tecate.

nice tecates have gone from 2000 to 4500 since i have been watching.

I could be wrong but I think they are much harder to find than the 86. the 87 should have a key switch in the head light shroud...if it's there that alone would be worth some $. I've watched ebay regularly for @ a year and have seen at least @ dozen 86's and only a couple 87's. for an 87 in great shape with both radiator shrouds, key switch, and runs good...I'd guess $2000 minimum.

parts are the hard thing to get. alot of the t3 stuff, both generations, is becoming more and more discontinued. but with time and doing the research and hunting, you can find the parts. i have an 85 and an 86, if i could find an 87 i would snag it up. depending on condition they could go from anywheres in the range of 800 to 2500 or a bit more.
