For those of you that didn't get a chance to check it out at TF, here's my completed YTZ450. This bike was built by Jason Hall to my exact specs. The frame geometry and ergonomics are all tailored around my size and weight.

We built this bike as if Yamaha would have designed it. (Although we were smart enough to borrow the better parts from Honda).

Anyhow, all the details can be found in the build thread, here are the pictures.

Yes. Before you ask, I am very proud of this bike and Jasons talents as a custom fabricator and my friend. This bike was a year in planning and 6 months of building. Great job Jason, and thanks for the nice bike!

Looks awesome man, I spent some time drooling over it this weekend at Trikefest. the pictures really dont even do it justice, up close you can see that every thing on it is brand new and done right. It makes you wonder what it would be like if these kinds of conversions became more popular, would be pretty cool. Why wait for the big 4 to build something that we can make ourselves? Well when I say we I mean a few very skilled builders. anyways, very nice job guys I now have a new background for my computer:lol:

One word: AWESOME!!!
the first diesel trike???

Its funny you should mention that, my buddy is actually building one right now. more on that later;)

Do the Banshee rear fenders bolt up with no mods or trimming?

No. But they work with minimal modifications. Remolding the seatpan is the most complicated part.

I to, spent quite a bit of time looking at how this AWESOME trike was put together. And each time i did, i found something else to marvel in. This truly is a piece of art work, and craftsmanship at its finest. Great job guys, and continue to pave the road into the future. I for one applaud your efforts!

I am one of the most picky, meticulous, anal-retentive guys you guys will meet, and I must say this machine is AMAZING. Got to see this work of art at trikefest, and let me tell you what, its just about as close as its going to get. Sounds dorky, but one of the things I liked most was the paddle style kick start. Way Kool!!!

What kind of tires are on the back? I like the low profile look of them! If you don't mind me asking, What was the finale build cost?

It would be copyright infringement.
How so? ? ?

I saved all the cardboard templates I used to build both bikes. So future builds are not out of the question. :beer

Because by using the Yamaha 490 motor and other patented items for monetary gains. You can't use someone else's idea without permission. Copyright infringement is the unauthorized use of copyrighted material in a manner that violates one of the copyright owner's exclusive rights, such as the right to reproduce or perform the copyrighted work, or to make derivative works that build upon it. This last sentence if from wikipedia, do you understand now Rex? This would go for Jason as well.

icp4life162005
06-29-2007, 04:13 PM
ohh yeah don't think i'm a narc either cause if i had the cash i would be standing in line for one right now! both are damn nice bikes.

Rex Karz
06-29-2007, 04:49 PM
A copyright doesn't apply here. By your logic, Chevrovet would be suing people who put their engines in custom cars. LOL LOL

For an explanation of Copyrights, Trademarks and Patents, I would reccommend perusing this page: http://www.lawmart.com/searches/difference.htm

A patent doesn't apply here, either. He didn't machine a replica of a Yamaha motor, He BOUGHT one. Which gave Him the right to do with it what He pleases.

Copyright infringement is the unauthorized use of copyrighted material in a manner that violates one of the copyright owner's exclusive rights to make derivative works that build upon it.

So that means he could not use another company's products that are copyrighted or patented(which all are these days) without there permission.
