I finally got my trike finished up yesterday. I still have a few minor things left yet, like the skidplate for the swinger, and the front one yet, and maybe switch a few nuts and bolts, but otherwise it's done. Thanks to all for the help along the way.:beer I still need to dial in the carb yet. It is pretty rich yet, but that's minor. Here are a few pics.

Anyone have a good guess on jetting for an ESR pipe, 38PWK, and an open K&N at about 700 feet elevation?
I have a 50 pilot, DEG needle, and 172 main right now.
I'm thinking of going to a DGH needle, and work the main down.
If anyone has a similar setup to start from, it would save some work, and would really help out;)

Very nice job! I'm sure you will have it running well shortly. Fatten all circuits up and begin pulling fuel out of the main. The needle if need be, and finally the pilot. Trial and error is the only real way to get it spot on. Take your time and it will be nice and crisp, yet safe. My 85 t-3 with a 38 AS, has a 50 pilot DCH needle, (much richer) and a 170 main, if this helps any.

Have you read the Jetting sticky thread?

Those rear 18's are HOT!!!!!!!!!!!

What rims are those?

Thanks for the info tecat-z.
ESR recommended starting at a 50 pilot,DGH-3rd clip, and a 175.
I can get jets around here all day, but not needles:( Those I'm gonna have to order.
I do like the 18's, even though they are a little light on tread.
Riverrat........the rims are ITP's 10x9, I believe. Maybe 10x8.......can't remember which. I ran the gearing at 14/36 to get it close to where the stock gearing was with the 20's. Maybe once I get it close on jetting, I may feel the need to go taller yet with the gearing:wondering ...........we'll see.
For now, I'm happy it fires up and moves again after all the time it's been sitting in pieces all over the place:D
It's been a long time since it ran last, and it's way better than when I first got it!!
I still need to go in the garage yet and clean up the mess I left yesterday.

Well......I messed around with it a bit today.
Not much, cuz I was on the road........gotta research some nearby places to ride.
Anyway, I cant believe what a difference the 89 update kit, and a new basket made in the clutch!! All new plates too. The clutch is lighter to pull than when I pulled it with the old ball lifter, and much smoother to operate.
I can't wait till we get done with this house closing, and moving out soon so I can put some hours in on the beast, and get it dialed in:)

Well........I've got the jetting a lot closer now.
It actually cleans up when I snap it open, and the idle is good.
Midrange may be somewhat rich yet.
I dropped to a 40 pilot, and 160 main.
Now I gotta figure out a good riding area that's somewhat nearby to dial it in.
Thanks for all the compliments thus far on the build:beer
Every time I look at it, it takes me back to about 15-16 years ago, when I first got it.
The only differences are that now I'm way older, and the bike is way better than before;)

I had a 45 pilot in, and was still nearly 3 turns out, so I went to a 40, which took care of things there.
For the main, I had a 175, then a 170, and it was still burbling like mad when I opened it up for a few seconds. I have a 165 I can try as well, once I get a chance to really ride it, and do some checks. Whereabouts are you at in Wisconsin, Nateb?
Maybe we can get out and ride sometime;)

I'm about 8 miles west of oshkosh on hwy 44. Bring that sucker over here, you can run it around on the roads for testing and I'll give you a hand dialing it in if you want.

Where can I get a 89 update kit?
My clutch lifter and rod are worn, and I might as well redo the whole thing.

I've seen 'em on ebay, and any dealer will have it as well.
Part number for the kit is 06220-HB9-305.

Thank you, I am aware of that kit. I just don't know if it includes the lifter arm? The rod that the cable attaches too.
Did you put different clutches in also? If so, what did you put?

THe kit is $55 from Honda, and $69 on ebay, don't know if there is a difference between the two.

Nice looking bike, great job !

One question, where did you get the rear tires? They look like the ones I used to have but I can't find them anywhere any more.

Fast Track II (or 2, can't remember) is what they were called I believe.

If they aren't Fast Track II, what are the ones you have called?

Again, awesome looking machine!

Close your plug gap to around .018/.020, that will help get rid of that burbling and you should be able to up your main and feed her more fuel. My motors are all ported, I'm at 600ft with a 39PWK I'm running a 50 pilot, 175 to 190 main depending on temps in the summer. Unported, I would say 140/145 pilot and 160/175 main. Get a DGH needle as well. If you want a couple more neeldes to try out get a CEJ and a CEL but the DGH is an all around good needle.

Sweet!! Are those new rear fenders? I notice how the rear corners of the fenders are very straight and not sagging. Nice job! And I can't help but notice how cute NE Wisconsin looks like. Looks very Americana. You should should come to San Diego, Ca. and check out one of our mega subdivisions!! And things aren't very green here...brown is more our color :-) You'll probably think you're in another country, actually I think it is. LOL.
