Whats it take to make one out of a 83 84 model. What motor fits a freind has a 200 and a 185 motor around the same yr. I found an X in a yard with no motor I `m going to try to get. Thought about building something for the wife.

It should technically bolt right up, at least that's what everyone's told me. As long as you have a totally running 185 or 200, and a complete 200X rolling chassis, that just needs an engine and electrical components, you can get yourself an Auto X quite quickly.

Should be a bolt in. Only problem will be rigging up a rear brake pedal.

you may also want to extend the shifter. a 200s/185 engine is a direct bolt up. all you need is the 200x motor mounts. and a 200x intake manifold.

You do indeed have to monkey with bending your shifter too. I recall that either motor mounts will work. It is a really easy conversion - fun too. Do it up. The braked pedal conversion is not too hard. Here is a link:

I `ll let you know if this falls threw. Part of the fun for me is building the project, hunting parts meeting people and the road trips lookin for that last piece. I built a few things from cars to motorcycles then for some dumb reason I sell them and find a different toy to play with.
