If I were to remove my exhaust and replace it with a home made straight pipe could it damage the engine at all? I don't see how it would, but I want to be sure.

Umm....you should state what machine you have and such along with that. If its a 2 stroke i wouldnt do it.

if its a 4 stroke make sure you go all the way back with it. it needs some kinda back pressure. lol

if its long enough it SHOULDNT hurt it but i would get sick of the sounds after a while. it really just gets annoying to myself and others. But if you want to do it just make sure it goes all the way back and maybe a couple bends.

K, I'll do that then, thanks for the help.

Yeah, and also be sure to check your jetting after you do this. I've seen people run straight pipes and blow up their engine because it made the machine run way too lean.

... Maybe I'm won't bother with the straight pipe then. It's not that big of a deal and I don't want to risk hurting my engine. I don't know much about the jetting and such so it's fine the way it is.

jetting isnt that difficult, check the jetting 101 thread, if you can follow directions and unscrew things, you can do jetting lol, it took me a couple months to learn the way a bike ats when either lean or rich basically, for you apllication get bigger jets, go as big as you can, then if the bike is sputtering your too rich, so you back down the size till its just right

I think you're better off with your stock exhaust anyway. A straight pipe is just annoying and loud.

Whatever you do, don't get the Cobra pipes for it. Ever. It's a pure waste of money.

I'm pretty much broke so I was just looking for a quick DIY straight pipe. I've decided to keep it stock though.

Good choice. Can't go wrong with factory.

You could still drill the baffles in the stock muffler. It wont be overly loud but it will be louder and have a hollower sound than stock.
