View Full Version : Trikes on Pinks? (Seriously)

I am watching sleds compete on the Speeds Channel’s show pinks right now. I know there are some fast damn big bore straight liners on here. Why not see if we can get them on Pinks? I think after Trikefest every one will have a better idea of their times and trike’s capabilities.

Now, I do not mean to sound like one of the dreamer, no sense teenagers that are on this forum. But that show as been racing street bikes and now sleds. And some of you have some pretty damn impressive straight liners. What do you all think?

Did you see the show where the two street drag GSXR's bought a spare bike as the pink slip? Trust me I really think you have a better chance of seeing HillBilly 4x4truck tug of Wars. I wanna see Rich put up his car already.

Most likely the racers would come from here. So I doubt any one would lose thier ride.

I did see the one where they guy brought in a brand new bike instead of risking his. What was that? Dosen't that defeat the purpose?

I was thinking mostly along the lines of getting some exposure.

I agree with LonesomeTriZ for some of you reputable guys who know how to build great tikes and want to spread the three wheeler world message of saving them this would be some great exposure. Crews could have 3wheerworld.com sponsor shirts, exc. Im sure enough of you guys have some spare parts to build some good trikes, no need to put your prized pieces on the line. Whos to say if you race with your buddy that you cant get your prized bike back later anywho. The show only cares about the fans who think that your trik got taken, we just want to see the races.

Good point, what happens after they don't need to know, just som good ole racing is what it's all about! haha

isnt pinks the show where the give 2 teams a car / whatever and give you a cretin amount of time to juice it up and so on then race ? if so get them to get 2 250R water pumpers and go to town. most of you guys on here can make something out of nothing. hell i bet some of your guys trike will keep up with a stock car.

you bring your bike/car that you already built or bought in your own time and race it against someone just like you. I cant remember how many races they do but i'm thinking the best of 5 wins it all. If you win you get the other guys ride that you beat OR you can be a nice guy and give it back.

that would be awesome, but i think we need to see quads on the show first before trikes, if they would even allow trikes because their "so dangerous". maybe something like this could happen at TF07. also, if the CPSC sees trikes on pinks, they might get stirred up and do something.

I wonder how many of us still actually have pink slips to give away.

They may not let it go down now, but if we stay on them they might. They were racing sleds on asphalt on today’s show. The host even said it was done to give them more exposure. I would be willing to get my big bore trike in on this once it is done. This idea is to give the serious racers here something to think about.

By the way, I would give the trike back if I know you. ;)

Now I know a lot of you feel this is way too far fethed to even think about. I thought so to, at first. For god sake, the raced snow mobiles on asphault today! Trikes racing down a straight line seems a lot more beleivable now.

LonesomeTriZ

Actual quote from the Pinks site:

"Oh My God!! I just watched the snowmobile episode. That was the best show that I have seen so far. I live in Wisconsin and Ive never seen that kind of racing before. I hope you guys shoot some more races like that again. Awesome show keep up the good work.

Joe"

I dont think I would risk it? Some random triker shows up and decides to keep my trike theres going to be problems! I dont think you could do anything about it either?

The show pinks seems to be all about sand-bagging and argueing about disadvantages and bike lengths and such... So to add some controversey, I would like to see a 3wheeler vs. quad race... Old vs. new... 2-stroke vs. 4-stroke... light vs. heavy... Like an alky 250R vs. a modded out Yfz for example....

LonesomeTriZ
06-07-2007, 06:19 PM
That is good thnking.

that would be awesome to run a quad against a trike on that show. 2 trikes would be pretty bad but it be nice to see a trike walking all over a quad on antional tv. and if the quad wins well they had 20 years of technology on thier side :naughty: lol

Did they run a 300ft. course or was it longer than that? I saw the one with the go-karts but it wasn't that exciting. I think you would have better racing if you set up something with stock bikes only. Cause there are some fast ass banshee's out there. Not to mention the freaks of sand drags, that show would just love to put a injected cbr1000 powered trx against an air fooler with, just to show the world ATC's aren't as good. Hell I would even put my T3 up against a new kawi 450. It'd be fun to beat it with the front tire in the air.

They make sure the racers are some what evenly matched. So if some one enters a alcy big bore trike, the quad would have to be pretty close in performance.

That show's nothing but bunk. I'd like to see the "behind the scenes" clips. Everybody kickin' back...make it LOOK like they gave their car/sled/go-kart...whatever away

LonesomeTriZ

Fake or not, I think it would get some good attention.

Man, I would love to be all over this. But I am still not in a position to do anything. I was thinking the same thing. A couple riders from here go for it. That way no one loses thier trike.

This sounds like a conversation with racers now. Billy, what all do you have to do to yours to have it ready? If we can get all this worked out, we can contact Pinks snd see what happens.

Billy Golightly
06-12-2007, 10:50 AM
A lot before mine is suitable for pavement. New wheels and tires, have to be balanced, probably need a wheelie bar, I gotta get all new safety gear (leathers), radiator overflow catch tank and all caps/plugs like for the oil and radiator have to be safety wired into place. I'd have to get a whole new chain and sprocket setup to get a tall enough ratio to run the distance, haha I'm not even sure what all else.

oldsking86
06-12-2007, 01:02 PM
I might just need to get on the ball with a street bike conversion soon haha

LonesomeTriZ
06-12-2007, 04:50 PM
Damn Billy, I did not think of all that.

Oldsking, even thought that would be something cool to ride, I think it would defeat the purpose for this type of race.

oldsking86
06-12-2007, 06:55 PM
Yea that is true, I really did want to race my bike here at a local dragstrip because someone brought a banshee so I was like "Hey maybe I can too!" He lifted so much and couldn't keep it down... I sure would take him no problem with my bike on a drag strip :) I'm really going to loook into that for the next test n tune they have

As for you guys doing pinks, oh please do soo I wanna watch haha

What was the general consensus about the drags at Trike fest? I have a letter typed and ready to summit to Pinks. I just wanted to see if any one thought their machine is up for it.

for those that would consider racing unless your looking for optimal speed and efficiency you don't have to set it up for street, if they raced sleds, trikes should be no prob

Bryan Raffa
07-01-2007, 10:06 AM
pretty shure pinks have never raced on dirt or sand... that would be a first also...

LonesomeTriZ
07-01-2007, 10:56 AM
That would be somehting to suggest. I'll see if I can incorperate it into my letter.
