how many of you have topped your trikes out? im scared that my engine is going to blow. i get about 1/2throttle on my dr, and im doing 50. yes 50, i was clocked by my brother. ive gotten to 3/4 throotle, and on a gravel road, it is freakin scary, the trike wants to float over the bumps, and im not for a crash. i really don't want the engine screaming, and being torn apart inside the engine. does the 225 dr and dx's have a rev limiter? also, how many r's is the engine probably pulling goosed?
thanks :-D plk

WIMP! lol, kidding. I've only ridden 2 trikes really, my YTM200(tops at 50) and my YTZ250(tops at 55, some @$$ put a 12 tooth front sprocket on it!)

BTW is your YTM200 an EL, and EK, or an ERN?

I just sold my 225Dr but it toped out somewhere around 50 mph, I'm just wondering what has been done to yours to make it so fast, since it has a drive shaft and the gearing can't be changed. I rode it full blast in river beds all the time, the faster you go the more fun it is. I just got a 85 250r and it is scary fast in the river beds, but its like riding on air compared to my old DR. Keep the hammer down (or thumb). LOL Josh

my 200 is an ek or an el, don't know the year. i belive it is an ek because it is yellow like yours, ssj3. wrench, i do not know why it goes so fast. i didn't do anything to it, nor has the previos owners (i belive) could they have taken the rev limiter out?i know that it will do 60 at the rate that it moves. my ytm 200e topped out at 55 with my dad on it, my 225 will have to pull more.

I have had my 350x wound as tight as it will go several times, always on smooth sand. On the beach in Oregon on the flat it will just fly. The only place I have ever worried is on the huge dunes at St Anthony's Idaho. You can get wound out while going seriously downhill, I worry there that I could over rev the motor.

Also, I put a 14 tooth countersprocket (stock is 13) when I went to 20" tires on the back. With the 13 on, my trike wound out too easy.
