Ive posted this before, but just out of curiousity, theres a 86 200X getting parted in the classifieds, On a other post he picked it up for 250 bucks. What kind of realistic price can you get parting a rarer trike like a 86 200X thats not running? I would think just putting the motor back together and selling it as a runner would make more coin. Well, whats an OK 86 200X worth? 500 to 800$??
A good used motor would run 300$ plus your time and I always pay myself 30 to 50$ an hour or I won't do it.
Free time is valuable to me!
It's all the little crap that adds up, like brakes, bars, plastic etc etc that turn trikes into a pit.
I'm sure if there are some decent parts he can double his money easy and not waste time trying to get it running. Thats not a bad flip....

I see your point, unfortunately when I see a broken atc my common sense seems to fly out the window. I paid 250 for a 200X after putting in a clutch, 2 tires, new plastic, seat, and a clutch cable. I think I had about 600 into it. I sold it for 700 bucks. bought another one for 250 ended up with no 2nd gear. but still spent a total of 550. just to make it a trike to putt around with. sold it for 600. As long as I at least break even and the trike ends up decent, Im happy.

I can understand both points.
Yes, free time is very valuable, I know this a little to well!!!!!! I barely have time to do the little things like dishes, or even cleaning my truck.
My opinion: working on my trikes is theraputic. I was in a really bad mood the other day, I went out to the garage to pull my brothers cylinder off his 83 Fooler, the moment I began to turn a wrench everything went out the window!
It was a symphony :)
