Since I have put on the Cobra exhaust system, which has no heat sheild, very high heat has been coming from the pipe where my leg is. I was thinking about using header wrap. Has anyone ever tried it on their trikes or atv's before?

Here's a link to the stuff if you don't know what i'm talking about:

the only bad thing I've heard about it is that if you use it on the headers on your car they won't last as long, the pipes rot out faster :wondering

Have it on my 200x whitch has an after market system on it . I mainly put it on to keep it from melting the plastics . Seems to work great and I plan on changing it and cleaning up the pipe from time to time as I'm sure it will hold moisture.

I have had no problems with the header wrap tape. Anytime it gets wet, as soon as the motor is warmed up the moisture is gone. If it gets mud on the pipe a simple wash hooks it up. The only "problem" I have had is a rub spot where the kicker goes by the pipe. Here is a before and after pic.
