Well, I finally have achieved 250R fever again and want to finish this restoration. It's an '85 250R with a Westcoast +2 swingarm and Lonestar Axcalibur axle. Outside of a V-Force reed block and ESR pipe, it's relatively stock. I'm not sure what the intended use will finally be for this thing. My uncle just bought a local stock car race track around here. It's a 3/10 mile gumbo track. Yes, my own personal flat track! :w00t: I imagine I'll put around on that, some gravel roads, and what not. I'm NOT going into the jungle with this thing. OEM plastic is spendy! I'm sort of bias towards the O.E. Dunlops, but I have little experience in these matters. I'm not going to pretend it's 1986 over again and think I'm a racer. This bike is just for MY fun! Anyways, here it is.

First off - nice bike!! I love the look of a fresh set of honda oem plastics.
For what you described, my first thought was flat track tires, or close to it. You could have a lot of fun with some duros or hoosiers. thats only cause of your description and unique riding spot. i always wanted a set of flats but not practical in my area. Also if you went flat tracks - it would help keep you off the trail/mud and ruining your nice bike. would give it that old school racer look with that swinger too.
Second choice - oem style dunlop 20s to keep it stock looking and they break loose well and not too expensive. Thats what i have on my R but mines a stock show queen.
Third choice are razrs, they slide very nice and give good traction in trails/light mud. Much better for me than turf tamers which are popular. Felt the turfs had too much bite when sliding corners.
Now finish that restore- summer is here.

I like the look of the stock oem tires best, and they would go great with all that shiny bike look, it would top it off. Did u say those where oem rear fenders?? Where did u managae to snag those??

Yeah, I'm thinking the O.E. Dunlops too. Anything's going to be better than the Blackwaters that it came with. I wanna try out the height adjustment feature of that Westcoast swingarm and get sort of a semi-flat tracker stance. I posted a picture of something on the rear end I had a question on before I started the restoration and my inbox was jammed with offers to buy it. It was the ONLY good thing about the purchase of this bike.
Anyways, off topic is usual. I bought the fenders from partsfish.com. It's Power Sports Pro down in Omaha, NE. My uncle is licensed Nebraska auto dealer and I faxed over his credentials and I can buy things from them at quite a nice break now. The fenders cost $245.31. They were going to cost something around $50.00 to ship. I live like 90 miles away and told them I would pickup the entire order. They goofed and I got the whole order shipped with no shipping charge. :w00t:
I feel so retarded for asking a simple question like this. I tore the engine down and split the cases with almost zero difficulty and it was my first try. Yet something like tires made me question, lol. I will post pics of the new treads next week then

Alright, all the new tires are on, along with ALOT crap that wasn't on before. I just need my cables, pipe, and some other misc crap to show up an it's go time. I wish someone would reply to my skidplate question so I can get that comming.

They'll be comming shortly! I think around the 4th of July I post a whole write up. I wanna have it "complete" before I spring the pictures. I betcha I've got $3,000 in it, including the cost of buying it. EVERYTHING on it was junk. I got a bunch of fancy crap like lonestar billet carrier, axle, anti-fade hub, ESR pipe, blah, blah, blah. I figure that if something is junk, you might as well replace it with overkill! I think anyone should be leary of buying a vehicle on eBay.

I put several pictures on the website www.250r.us a while back. I'll probably do more once the weather turns around. It's below zero here right now!
Looks like My R's Distant Cousin! Great job looks awsome!
