I'm working on my new Tri-Z and i'm debating whether to install some hand guards or not. This is my main motocrosser and I thought they might be nice for all the outdoor tracks I run.
Anyhow, here's my old Z with and without hand guards. Which do you prefer?

Obviously you have yet to take a boulder to the knuckle while following B on the 500!

I truly like both as both have their own characteristics(sp). The one without looks racier and fast while the one with looks more hardcore and battleready for anything to come.
But I'm also not a big fan of mashed up fingers from another ride or roost.

Derrick, wheres the confidence in your new bike/skills that would make you say, "Why the hell do i need hand guards? or even goggles!"

wait....wasn't that someone else's trike???!?!
oh and no handguards...MX'ers(bikes) dont run em on the track and they throw ROOST so I doubt you would need em to.

Hand guards are functional but I HATE them because I can't hang my helmet on the ends of the bars.

i use them on my bike.i did not buy them for looks .
I did not like it when vines and small trees would push in the clutch of the front brake when i was riding. now i can bash through more stuff.
i use my 250r as a off road bike. and bark busters are the hot ticket for a woods bike.
I still get trees , saw grass, and cane inbetween my shifter and my frame .but the bark buster help allot for agresive trail riding

I use bark busters w/ deflectors on all of my bikes. I do ride at my friends house on my mx bikes, they get by in the trails by him. The branches, sticker bushes, and other stuff just hits the guards and doesn't bother me, like it does to my friend. I just go through the stuff, he has to slow down on every little thing. I also like them as they keep the wind off you hands when its cold too. Bark busters can save your levers also, I have a few instances where I would have had broken levers and hydrolic cluthes, destroyed, but saved my a $60 bark buster/hand guard.

Exactly, thats how I am with my trikes, so anything that helps me out there I use if possible. I cant stand trying to get through lots of branches and having my clutch and brake lever pushed in, the handguards keep that from happening and let me keep plowing my way through:) I like the look of some of them too, especially the powermadds. So to answer your original question, I like the way the Z looks better with the handguards, to each his own I guess

even it is some small flag type guards from acerbis, powermadd, cycra.... alot cheaper than a busted finger in my opinion.
Lots of guys out here run them do to the huge rock count in our tracks.

I never had a need for em but Id only get the break away ones...saw a dude get two fractured wrists when he cased his dirtbike. hands slipped between bars and the guards as he went over.
