2 Tiger Engines Found

Well I found 2 more Rotax engines. The internet is a great thing! These must be early liquids cause the case covers say Bombardier instead of Rotax. They both need rebuilt and only have flywheels as far as the electronics go. The pistons and bore look good. I am looking everyday for more Tiger stuff.

Yeah, I gave $125.00 shipped for one and 175.00 shipped for the other. They are tough to find, price in not really an option when you find one.

Well, I know they are extremly rare to find but that is cheap for them. I cant even get a water pumper 250r motor for them prices.

Yeah, I will go up to the local bike shop and get a couple of each!! I wish it was that easy. Sometimes the hunt is better than the kill.

Hey check this out. This is a 2004 motocross bike made by "Factory Bikes" in Spain. It has a 250 Liquid Rotax, right drive, left kick. I was talking to a Can-Am-ATK guy and he said these have the same engine mount holes as the older Rotax engines. More to keep an eye out for!

I wonder if Rotax Austria worked on technology on the same lines on their bike and their sled engines.
The early Rotax engines were pretty strong, but not bulletproof, and the newer ones, from mid nineties, on, seem pretty reliable, with the 670 twin being a very strong engine.
How do the 250 Tiger Rotax's stack up to the Honda , Yammy, and Kawi liquid 250's in the three-wheelers?

I will know the answer SOON!! I have yet to ride my tiger yet. Still waiting on new pipe to finish it. But I have been on Can-Am 250 motocross bikes, which is exactlly the same engine. They have plenty of power and have a much different powerband. More like a 4 stroke and dont have to stay on the pipe to get power. I will go into detail when I get mine done. Trust me, Ive been waiting for almost 6 months to hear mine run, Im READY!

Wonder if that motor in that bike is the same one used in the Rebel Star 250 quad in the late 90s.

iowa, did your motors come from a tiger originally, or were they in canam bikes? Ever sell your Tiger parts?

No, the engines I just got are from 84 Can-Am mx/lc 250. No I still have the other Tiger and am real close to putting it together. I have enough there to make it run. I missed out on a front master cylinder and rear caliper about a week ago, fell asleep a half hour before auction closed, I was pissed. They went fo 55.00.

Nice find, started working on my 250 and after sitting for 10yrs the coollent ate through part of the water pump, so now I need to find some parts. I really didn't want to ride it I really just enjoy trying to find parts LOL I will have to keep an eye out for a complete bottom end since the 200 needs some bottom work also. Good luck getting two running.

Thanks, I have got to get all my spare engines out and go through all of them at once. I do have a complete lower end minus the waterpump. But I might need the crank and cases out of that one. I will know more by the end of summer. I may have a couple 250s for sale or trade for other tiger parts. I have the 200 that I want to put in the other tiger. I found another 250 engine up in Canada but have not bought it yet.

Well I got motivated today and started going through my tiger engines to see what they all need. Also got my other top end together to replace my" brain fart "on my original tiger. Two of the engines look good and will need nothing, hopefully!!. One engine needs bored, crank bearings and seals, new piston. Another needs bored and piston plus I stripped the flywheel threads and my brand new puller. BEWARE, do not try and pull these Rotax flywheels without heat. I now have to spend another $48.00 to get a new puller. Ive got 2 engines with serial numbers 4 apart. I thought that was kinda cool.

Does anyone out there that has ever rebuilt a rotax engine, ever had these different pistons? These are both 250 pistons. The one has a indentation where the piston pin goes through. In the cylinder of that one the wall is kinda flat looking on each side. Im not sure what piston I should order. I think the normal looking one is the most common.

the piston on the left in the picture is the stock style piston I have 4 new sleves with new rotax pistons I bought last yr and they all look like the 1 on the left

Then you have never seen the one on the right? It looks to be the 1st or second oversize.
