Hey I went to the ATV salvage yard yesterday, and the guy was moving so he let me poke around in all the machines. Well I ended up finding whats left of an 87 Big Red, its the frame (unmolested), front end, engine, and possibly part of the rear end, and random other stuff. The guy knows its a little more special than a normal trike, but what should I offer for it?

I also found a Tri-z (idk what year), its the frame (perfect), motor, front end, rear end, tank, etc. One fork is bent and the motor has tranny problems, no plastic, and whats there is unusable. He wanted 350$ but if it needs lower end work Id rather stay away.

What would all that be worth to you guys?

I'd give him 400 for the whole lot, but that is just me.

Could always part em out or sell all of your little trikes and trinkets and put together something awesome!

I bought a tri-z that was in better shape than what you described at my local boneyard for $75

Yeah as far as I can see the tri-z isnt worth a damn to me unless its under 100$, especially with bottom end problems. Ive seen full running machines for 350$.

Well I know that the guy is moving to another place, I wonder if I could help him move or somthing or help 'clean up' and get it cheaper or free. :D

Im kinda interested in the Red, the frame isnt chopped or anything. He had an interesting story on them though. I guess he used to work for Honda back in the day, and all the '87 trikes they ordered had the steering stem (with the VIN #) chopped off, and they sent those pieces in and got the money back for the trike, and they got to keep the trike, otherwise lose their licence.

Well what they did, was precisely cut JUST the stem off, and later after they had the money back from Honda, they machined new steering stems, welded them on, and sold the '87's and even doubled their money in the process. Kinda funny, but I think its cool even back then some people were interested in keeping the trikes going.

I wish we had better trike junkyards over here. They are few and far appart to say the least! I wish I could score a nice 75 dollar Tri-Z
