DAMN this ATV 6 Hour Race was fun!!! Durhamtown Plantation in GA. I rode the IronMan Utility on my "22 year old..and NO brakes" Honda 250ES Big Red. Naturally I was the ONLY 3-wheeler out there. Lot of great comments & respect by the peers'!
It was a 9 mile loop (as many as you can in 6 hours....I completed 6 loops) started on the pee-wee motoX track the into the woods with tight, technical sections, few off-camber steep/muddy hills, a 60' section of trail that became a mud pit, actually ran on a big motocross track. There were rocks, logs, roots. It rained at the beginning for the first 2 hours. The trail became rutted up big time which REALLY made me work. There were no rider injuries, few minor wrecks, several broken ATV's. There were sport quads, BIG 4WD utility quads....impressive!
Did the whole thing on 3/4's of a tank! Holds 3 gallons...I believe.
As for the pic's...unfortunately spectators could only be right at the start...not along the course.
Me on the starting line...

Good 'ol boys' (left to right...Jason, John, and me)...

The workhorses... 250ES Big Red & Prairie 360...not so clean now are they! Nor is my face...

SpeedyTide's wood ....(2nd Place - IronMan Utility) "You got some balls riding that thing!"...another rider commented when I got my plaque...I said "you just gotta know how to ride 'em!"

I was the ONLY 3-wheeler there...which was COOL, but I'd thought there might have been 1 or 2 more.
Ya'll come and play too next time!! It may, or may not be muddy.....depends on the weather.
It was a blast....I really did it for fun. Like I said....if I'd had a 350X...or even a 200X....I'd done VERY WELL...no doubt.
There is supposed to be another event, but may be a 8 or 10 hour event...this fall!! I'll find & post the website shortly. Thanks for the props guys!!
YES!!! 10hrs of racin!!! WHOOO HOOO!!! lets DO IT!!!

I may be doin' it on a 125m if I don't put together an X of some flavor:), but I would seriously love to do that. Looks and sounds like a blast! I'll have to check into this fall date you're referring to to see if I could conceivably pull it off.
Great job and way to represent!

Congratualtions Speedytide! Its always great to see people who have the courage to just go out there and do it! Definately NOT an armchair racer!
I have never seen another three wheeler (besdies mine) in any cross country racing here either, so it doesnt surprise me you were the only one there.

Okay guys!!...and possibly gals.
Looking like it'll be a 12 hour ATV race the end of September, so it's a lil over 3 months away.
Again....visit www.durhamtown.com to keep up with event details...as there aren't none right now...other than the event duration & date.
Be nice to see other trikes joining me!

Billy, there is a Pro class. The Overall winner (Pro Class) I believe completed 15 or 16 loops. Think he was on a 400-450cc sport quad...not sure what model. The loop was 9 miles, and I completed 6 on 'ol Big Red!
im interested in doing this now, since I got the 350x keep us posted man!!!

Way to go man, plaque for the wall and all to remember it by.
I've been trying to get the local cross country series to let me race my Tecate for about 4 months, but they won't budge. I'd love to come on over to Georgia and race any cross country event I could. Be sure to keep us posted on any future events.
How many atvs, 3 and 4 wheels, were racing total?

I'd say about 50-60 from what I remember.
This was more of a fun type event....there wasn't huge sponsors, or cash for the winners, but it was still cool as all get out!! :w00t:
