how do i remove the inners of the fork tube on an 86 250r? what i mean is when i try unbolting the bolt on the bottom of the fork the insides turn and i cant figure out how to hold them still so i can loosen and take out then later retighten. had the same priblem on my Elsinore. thanks in advanced.

You must mean the damping rod/bolt. The allen bolt underneath?? You sometimes need an air gun to spin it free and have to put the spring back in to load the damping rod. Or it has to be held with something similar to the correct tool. I have even jammed a socket between the spring and fork cap to load it a bit more, but I've nevr had to buy the right tool in at least a few dozen fork rebuilds....

Leave the fork cap on and try to compress the fork tube while turning then bolt. If thats no good then get a wooden broom hande and poke it down in the fork tube until it gets to bottom. Put pressure on it and then turn the bolt.
