Anyone ever tried to use that truck bed liner stuff to paint a motor. Comes in a variety of colors, very durable, the only thing would be if it would hold too much heat in.

Just a thought. Seen a guy do a gun stock before.

maybe a very thin coat on a water cooled bike. but yea the heat thing would be an issue.

i think it would over heat, but mabe not if you rode a water cooled bike on a cold winter day in 2 feet of snow

POR15 engine enamel (http://www.por15.com/BEngine-Enamels-B?sc=2&category=1). $21/pint. Quite a few colours to choose from there. I'm not sure what that's rated for on temperature though. Their "Black Velvet (http://www.por15.com/s.nl/it.A/id.1462/.f)" High Temp paint is good to 1200°F. There's also aluminum (http://www.por15.com/s.nl/it.A/id.1452/.f) (good to 1400°F) and manifold grey (http://www.por15.com/s.nl/it.A/id.1457/.f?sc=2&category=235) (also good to 1400°F). I've used the aluminum on headers and it stands up well. Very nice stuff. It might be a bit pricey but it doesn't take a lot. I think I used half a pint on a pair of V8 shorty headers.

It sounds like heat would be an issue then. I was just wondering. I was offered some for free and that was all I could think of using it on right now

a can of good engine paint is something like five or six bucks, and alot easier to apply :D I would think the truck bed coating would be like a blanket and hold all of the heat in :wondering

The engine paint sold In KMart and similar places works very well. Ive had Chevy Orange on my head for years. Ive used BBQ paint on exhausts, (where nothing holds up), and its biggest weakness is that it wont stand up to gas and oil. I painted a head with it once, and ended up washing it off with gas a few days later.

Use the bed coating on your frame, rims, axle, swinger, forks, and racks.

POR 15 is good stuff! Worth the money if prepped correctly. I did however have a problem with their aluminum paint on my Jeep headers. They returned my money immediately though with no questions asked. Black POR 15 engine enamel has been on my CJ7 in the dunes and everything and no signs of it coming off any time soon.
