I was wondering what each number means in like 22x11-8 I know the last number is the for the rim but is it width from inside to outside or diameter from top to bottom? and hypotheticly could i run a 22x12-8 tire (if there is such a tire) on a rim that has a 22x11-8 tire on it? because the next time i get tires i would like a smaller tire that is wider and preferrably flat like a track tire but with an aggressive pattern that will handle mud well. isn't the first number overall height the second footprint width and the last rim width?:confused:

First=tire hidth

Second=rim width

Third=Rim hidth (diameter)

I have 21-11-9 on my X when the stockers were 22-10-9. Looks nice and aggressive, they work just fine.

what is hidth? do you mean height? And I meant a 20x12-8 on a rim that came with a 22x11-9 tire on it.

That will not work as the first tire has an 8" rim and the other has a 9" rim. Those 2 numbers have to match for a tire to even fit on the rim. Then the height and width is personal preference and trike specific.

also, the taller the tire (the first #) the more speed you will accumulate and possably loose alittle bottom end

lol I got the same ''proble'' I also have 22-11-8 tires I thing you mean that you wan't tires like 20-11-8 these aren't as high as the stock tires (I only like the front stock tire from the atc250r)

stock:
to high don't look good (my opinion)

Not exactly.

First number is overall tire height.

2nd number is the width of the tire footprint and has nothing to do with rim width. Your stock rim is probably 9" wide (9x9), and you can use pretty much any width tire made for a 9" rim on it, which would typically be 9.5-12" for the 2nd number.

3rd number is rim diameter at the tire bead seal.

"could i run a 22x12-8 tire (if there is such a tire) on a rim that has a 22x11-8 tire on it?" - YES

"I meant a 20x12-8 on a rim that came with a 22x11-9 tire on it." - NO
